On a day when Portland is inundated with wildfire smoke and extreme heat, the attempted ballot measure to take away climate resilience funds to hire more cops has failed to make the ballot. Climate action is public safety.

Hold Big Oil accountable for their deceptions and for the colossal harms they have caused.
🚨 JUST IN: The U.S. Supreme Court will hear arguments in Suncor Energy Inc. v. County Commissioners of Boulder County on Monday, October 5. Suncor and ExxonMobil want the Court to stop Boulder's climate deception case against the oil companies before it goes to trial. Here's what you need to know👇
Every new oil and gas project makes the heatwaves worse.
What would Jesus do? Ok rhetorical question. Jesus would feed the poor. Hard stop
Opinion: Mamdani's idea may sound appealing, but it's NYC taxpayers who will take the hit, subsidizing discounts they may never even use.
This is an incredibly stupid opinion, even for the flagship of the USA Today Co. (formerly Gannett). The idea is to provide for the public good and care for the most vulnerable among us. You know, the things that lifted us out of the Great Depression.

Oh wow. Devastating for Spokane. Everyone did all they could, but the climate crisis can't be stopped in a day.
Spokane fires burn roughly 700 structures, Ferguson to give update
Thousands of people have been evacuated as a fast-moving wildfire driven by strong winds and high temperatures swept across northwest Spokane.

Today’s reminder that climate change endangers our health
Worst we’ve known’: UK turns to imports as drought and heat hit vegetable crops. Food insecurity and higher prices would follow. Poor hit the hardest. Despite warnings, no plan for water shortages. Need reservoirs, water storage, better water management. Companies can't do national planning.
If you are over the age of, say, 35. You are *already* a giant fucking dork, to the people who really care about such things. Nothing you can do or say or wear will ever change this. Please, enjoy your health & take care of it how you see fit. The rest of us don’t respect the dork/not dork divide
As we get older we are somewhat forced to do some dorky things. I’ve been walking every morning with a rucksack with weights for a year because my knees told me that my running days were over. Its worked well.
On this date in 1936, the Summer Olympics opened in Berlin, and the efforts by Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party to demonstrate the superiority of the “Aryan race” were undermined by the success of African American athletes, notably Jesse Owens.
Just reminding you all that the number of times the Bible calls for banning transgender women from sports is exactly zero
I don't know about you, but I don't like the way Trump is gripping Jesus.
Hey WA Peeps. Election Day is this coming Tuesday. Fill out those ballots and get them turned in.
Today’s reminder that climate change endangers our health
Bordeaux, France, has now recorded more days above 40°C in 2026 alone than during the entire 105-year period from 1920 (when observations began) to 2025. This is deeply shocking.

Quite telling how every argument for AI data centers is transparent bullshit. It creates no lasting jobs or population movement at all. Literally no reason for any place to allow it unless the community extracts massive perpetual cash payments in return.
Hassett: "Data centers are very good for towns bc they create so many jobs & bring people in with high incomes that can buy houses & stuff like that. So if you take a sleepy town that hasn't seen much in the last 30 years & put a data center there, there are gonna be a bunch of happy residents."
The very same corporate moguls who rank among the world’s wealthiest people, enjoying the heights of opulence, are also among the top owners and profiteers off the data center boom.

Reminder big oil is making record profits while the world burns. Climate change endangers our health.
The 6 largest oil companies will collectively rake in $45B in profits in the second quarter of 2026 — nearly double what they made in the first quarter. Meanwhile, Canada, France, and Spain are battling record-breaking wildfires spurred by the climate crisis. Big Oil profits while the world burns.
"Taxing the rich doesn't work." Tell that to Massachusetts… Their millionaire tax has raised $3.1 BILLION so far. It's funding bridges, buses, teachers, free community college, and free school meals. Enjoy. 😎✨

More than 20% of US population is projected to be age 65+ by 2030 Big changes coming to state budgets: 📉 Decreased tax revenue 🏥 Increased health costs 🚌 Increased demand for transportation, housing, caregiving, and more. States need to plan for these—and some already are. lnkd.in/eRNQUJBy

"Showing up is 90% of the battle" Someone from Greenlight America did come to the plan commission hearing in my county back in March. We're going at it again in August.
In essence, once of the things I am advocating for is letting farmers make 100x as much net energy and 5x as much profit per acre, while some of their neighbors are saying "No".
America: We can't afford groceries and gas, and we have explosive diarrhea after we eat parasitic lettuce, and we don't have health care, and we're dying in an illegal war in Iran, and we want the Epstein Files! Republicans, please help us! Republicans: Uh, um, er, uh, let's grill Fauci!
Great day yesterday meeting with Congress to discuss climate policy. Over 800 @cclusa.org volunteers had over 400 meetings. Really appreciate @repdelbene.bsky.social & her staff & their interest in working on real solutions #cclinDC
As of today, thanks to @markvmd.bsky.social, I'm no longer calling methane "so-called natural gas" or "fracked gas." Instead, I'm calling it "asthma gas" because 13% of children's asthma in the US is attributable to its use in gas stoves. bsky.app/profile/maib... @docsforclimate.bsky.social

Asthma gas! A boffo (& truthful) renaming of an inherently dangerous product. Nearly 13% of childhood asthma in the US is a byproduct of so-called "natural" (aka "fracked") gas stoves in American kitchens. Switching to induction stoves improves health: www.jaci-inpractice.org/article/S221...
Reminder: switching from gas to electric cooking has the same impact on childhood asthma as the most potent medication available. Its not "natural gas" its "asthma gas"
Big Oil used to give me Gas, but thanks to heat pumps, an induction stove, and community solar (thank you, Maryland State Legislature!), my home is now gas-free. I broke up with Big Gas (and their local distributor, Washington Gas) and now feel so much better. @docsforclimate.bsky.social
