An Instagram ad just tried to convince me that belt bags are dangerous because thieves can simply sneak up with scissors and cut the bag right off of you, which is why you need THIS bag with zipper locks and steel wiring woven into the strap. Capitalism is absolutely flailing

Somehow the waffle taco microtrend in fast-casual is a memory that, once dislodged, sends the rest of 2013 tumbling out alongside it. The looming fiscal cliff, waffle tacos, Alfonso Cuarón's GRAVITY, waffle tacos, the ascension of Pope Francis, waffle tacos, Oscar Pistorius, waffle tacos

Taco Bell Chicken & Waffle Taco (2013-2013): A fluffy, golden brown waffle folded into a "taco" shell and filled with a fried chicken patty, served with either syrup or country gravy. Part of an experimental breakfast-served-all-day menu at Southern California stores, they sold for .99 each

Anyone the least bit hesitant to fund public transit has clearly not stood beside this little neighbor boy on the platform as he excitedly traces the Red Line Extension on the map while exclaiming to his father that he's gonna choose the best car to board

Thinking, as I often do, about the retiree who would come into the UPS Store wearing a smart little visor every morning in the summertime to print 5 copies of the crossword puzzle for her and all her friends and place 35 cents directly into my palm with a smile on her face

A fascinating takeaway from speaking with people 60+ about their internet habits is that they talk about Reels distinctly and by name. "Did you see that Reel?" they say. "I was on Reels and saw the funniest thing...." etc.

I almost never order things online (which I realize is a privilege, etc etc) and the two things I've ordered this year have arrived broken/non-refundable and been stolen, respectively. How anyone uses this system to conduct the majority of their purchases is beyond me
