i wasn't allowed to read them when i was a kid (extreme evangelical upbringing), so when i finally read them as an adult i was shocked how they had managed to do so well 😭 like wait THIS is that Harry Potter thing everyone says is really good?????

If you really are a huge fan of Harry Potter and you just have to watch the movie, my recommendation is to re-read the books first. You're a huge fan, so you presumably have your own copies. Re-read them. In 2026 with a fully developed brain. Then we'll have this discussion, after you do that.

we live in a world where "humanity is rotten to the core" is a more tolerable idea than "capitalism is kinda busted" but what I love about "capitalism is kinda busted" is realizing every good thing that happens is in spite of capitalism because humans are that committed to doing good things

there is something so surreal about being recognised by a subscriber at the jobcentre... 😭 like the guy coming over to confirm that i am, indeed, too poor to be considered self employed was like, "wait, are you a youtuber? i love your videos!"
