If you’re a cyclist in Blackrock, you’re probably familiar with Deepwell Lane 🚴 Preliminary works are taking place Monday 24th - Friday 28th August, which will involve closing the existing lane from Blackrock Park to Blackrock Dart Station. Works to expand the lane are due to begin in Qrt 4 🥳

Bins, bogs and benches, the three Bs of local government After waiting years for a bin in Rockfield Park it was placed in the area with very few passers-by. It’s now been moved to the main lane from Barclay Court. Thanks to everyone who got in touch about it and to the cleansing staff for moving it.

Proud to march with @labour at today’s Dublin Pride. Celebrating the hard fought wins while demanding full equality for all🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️
Youngest doesn’t want to be met from the station. Delighted and devastated 💖
Such a special evening in the LexIcon where HE Larysa Gerasko launched the #ukrainianbookshelfproject. The Ambassador spoke so beautifully about the importance of literature in helping us understand and make connections with each other’s cultures 🇺🇦🇮🇪
Bertie Ahern's comments are disgraceful and he should apologise. But we also must take a look around the Dáil chamber. There is not one black or African voice in the Dáil that has the real, lived experience of racism. We want to change that on 22 May, and put Cllr. Helen Ogbu in the Dáil.
Fantastic new research published today by Transport Infrastructure Ireland delving in to women’s attitudes to cycling in Ireland. Loads of new information, as well as providing hard data on hunches and assumptions 🥳
A free vote is a cop out! The recommendations of the review are clear and three years old.
www.rte.ie/news/2026/05... Government TDs will have a free vote on the Social Democrats' Reproductive Rights Bill, which will be debated and voted on in the Dáil.
Delighted to get cross party support for my motion calling on Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council to roll out Dementia Cafes #communitysupport @alzheimerssoc.bsky.social
One of the most brilliant talks I ever heard was from John Fanning 20+ years ago who in a room full of business people said to forgo business books and to read fiction, poetry and art because artists are the harbingers of the future.

Today is our 18th birthday!🎉 I was asked yesterday by our Transition Year work experience student how many staff I'd had over the years and my mind flickered back back over the many helping hands. Very grateful to have had Lili by my side these last few years, and Cormac more recently🙏
Happy 18th birthday to our fabulous local, independent bookshop @ravenbooks.bsky.social Congratulations Louisa and all the team past and present 🥳

On May Day we celebrate workers’ rights and highlight the rights we still need to fight for, including paid leave for fertility treatment and paid leave during miscarriage. Special shout out to former @labourparty leader #RuairiQuinn who introduced this public holiday in 1994 Thanks Ruairi 🌹🌹🌹
Gorgeous new mural in Clonkeen Park! One of the perks of cycling to Shanganagh for the parkrun
An rud is annamh is iontach! After a series of long, bad-tempered meetings on the dlr Development Plan variation, it’s lovely to be home, watching the latest #taskmaster, shooting the breeze on study (too early apparently 😳), dog walking (dog not the most enthusiastic 🐾), and wind (ruining my swim🌊)
Lovely weather for the annual Blackrock village clean with #Blackrocktidytowns and for the Carysfort Park and Cloisters cleanup. Great chats and fabulous baking!
Very much open to correction but think I might've found Peig. #1926Cencus #TheStoryOfUs nationalarchives.ie/collections/...
Enjoying the views from Dún Laoghaire’s newest social housing. Great to see 39 new social homes in the heart of Dún Laoghaire. Well done to everyone involved in delivering Bentley Villas and best wishes to the new tenants!
Great to see pedestrian safety works progressing on Booterstown Avenue
Wonderful to attend the launch of the beautiful new tourist map of Blackrock. Congrats to Tom, Jen and Michelle for the hard slog, and massive thanks to Jeanne Colton for the beautiful design and to DLR’s Heritage Officer, Deirdre Black, and Dave Lawless, from DLR’s tourism office for their support
Sometimes, it’s the little things! For people using mobility aids, stepping up to or down from a kerb is not feasible. Thanks a million to @dlrcoco.ie and the contractors #Nolan for installing the speed bump. Handy also if you’re trying to get your wheely trolley of groceries back from the village
✨Highlights from last week ☕️Restoration of the tearooms in the park. Welcome #mistermagpie (photo #dlrcoco) 🌳Lots of new trees at #DalkeySchoolProject 😱Lows 🚲Half a greenway (Cabinteely Greenway; the park component ✅, but the decision NOT to build the part where children mix with cars 🤯)
With International Women’s Day on Sunday, we were out and about in Monkstown this morning asking people what women’s rights and achievements we should be most proud and what we still need to fight for. Take a look at some of the responses here and leave a comment to add your own!
Fab new mural on George’s Avenue. Well done to Gwen and Blackrock Market
