1/ 🚨 New opinion piece: "Can we automatize scientific discovery in the cognitive sciences?" We lay out a vision for a fully automated, in-silico science of the mind, where modern AI systems run every stage of the scientific discovery cycle in cognitive science 🧵 #AutomatedDiscovery #AI4Science

🚀 We are hiring! 🚀 🔍 Join us as a Postdoctoral Researcher (fully-funded) at the Helmholtz Institute for Human-Centered AI in Munich.

Excited to see our Centaur project out in @nature.com. TL;DR: Centaur is a computational model that predicts and simulates human behavior for any experiment described in natural language.

Preprint update, co-led with @akjagadish.bsky.social, with @marvinmathony.bsky.social, Tobias Ludwig and @ericschulz.bsky.social!

Generating Computational Cognitive Models using Large Language Models

Computational cognitive models, which formalize theories of cognition, enable researchers to quantify cognitive processes and arbitrate between competing theories by fitting models to behavioral data....

If you are interested in one of those fields, I highly encourage you to apply. I started my PhD here last year and couldn't be happier. Lots of expertise from different fields, super smart colleagues and great mentorship. If you have questions or want to chat before applying, feel free to reach out!

About a month late posting this, but here's a new project with @ericschulz.bsky.social, @akjagadish.bsky.social, @marvinmathony.bsky.social and Tobias Ludwig We are using LLMs to propose cognitive models in learning and decision making data. Presenting this work at RLDM! arxiv.org/abs/2502.00879
