MP for Coventry East. Promoted by Mary Creagh, Enterprise House, Courtaulds Way, Coventry, United Kingdom, CV6 5NX

For too long, councils have been pushed out of housebuilding. We’re putting them back at the heart of it🛠 This is the first step in our £39 billion national programme to deliver the biggest expansion of social and affordable housing in a generation.

UK economy has been far more resilient than the commentators/gloomsters/forecasters thought. Strong start to 2026 continues despite the headwinds of the Iran conflict - GDP growth of 0.4% in 2nd quarter. What matters most (gdp/capita) is also up 0.4%, and has risen 1% on the year

I like a pint of Guinness as much as the next person, so it’s great to see our new Prime Minister Andy Burnham taking action to cut business rates for our local pubs. The 20% cut to pubs, clubs, and music venues from next April should save the average pub £1100 a year.

Fake passports. A money laundering conviction. A mystery casino fortune in Montenegro... There's yet more revelations about who Farage chooses to surround himself with. Let’s start with George Cottrell. A man Farage describes as "like a son," and his former chief of staff 👇

Proud to have served as the UK’s first Nature minister under @SteveReedMP & @EmmaforWycombe From releasing beavers 🦫, 3 new national forests, progress on circular economy, food waste & fly tippers, I’m grateful to have served with brilliant @defra team.

Labour's expanding testing for Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) across England. From October, SMA checks will be added to regular heel-prick tests for newborns We're moving faster by rolling out screening to ensure children get the best treatment from the earliest possible moment.

Last week, I held a roundtable with representatives from many different housing organisations, Coventry City Council, and the charity End Furniture Poverty. We discussed how we can work together to tackle poor housing and furniture poverty across our city.

🐝Bees' Needs Week🐝 It was a privilege to present the winners of the Bees' Needs Champions Awards with their certificates at RHS Garden Wisley this week. The Bees' Needs Champions Award shines a light on the great work that so many do for pollinators.

Britain is one of the most nature-depleted countries in the world, and we are determined to turn that around by doubling the amount of money available. This £60 million investment is the largest ever made in the Species Recovery Programme👇 coventryobserver.co.uk/news/coventr...

Coventry East MP hails “largest ever” £60 million boost for endangered species

Coventry East MP Mary Creagh has welcomed a record £60 million investment aimed at protecting some of the UKs most threatened wildlife, as part of a major.

I've announced £60 million for 130 projects nationwide, protecting 364 threatened species. It's the biggest investment ever in our Species Recovery Programme😱 Wildlife in England has fallen by a third since 1970. This is how we turn that around🦋

Waste operators must now properly prove who they are, pass a criminal record check, and show they know what they're doing. For too long we were let down by a system that didn't work and let waste criminals dump rubbish in our fields or on our streets.

Two years since I returned to Parliament as the MP for Coventry East! Labour has lifted 10,000 children out of poverty in this city, & delivered 2 new nurseries, a neighbourhood police team in every area, and a Community Diagnostic Health Centre that is opening later this year.

Thames Water has been underperforming for 15 years. Customers and the environment have paid the price. This can’t go on. Good to be in the chamber to support Emma Reynolds, as she updated MPs on the letter she has sent to Ofwat about the offer put forward by investors to recapitalise Thames Water.

10 years since we lost our beloved friend and colleague Jo Cox. So much has been written about her since that horrific, evil day. Always loved, never forgotten. We strive every day to reach out across divides, remember the good in people, and honour her legacy.

A privilege to attend the opening of the second session of parliament under our Labour government. Among the 37 Bills announced the Clean Water Bill will be led by my Defra colleagues. I walked back to the Commons Chamber discussing it with Emma Reynolds, Environment Secretary.

A disappointing day in Coventry where Labour lost control of the council but remained as the largest party with 24 cllrs. Green votes cost Labour councillors their seats. Hope they do the right thing and back Labour against the 20 newly elected Reform cllrs.
