In the last few days, we've seen Sen Bill Cassidy make a big floor speech capitulating to DJT on Todd Blanche... and Ohio Rep. Max Miller stay in his Congressional race with very little GOP push back. If you are waiting for the Rs to change - maybe... stop

Susan Collins voted for $70 billion in ICE funding just before an ICE agent gunned down a young immigrant father in Maine. Collins also voted against an amendment requiring bodycams. These votes will now be hung around her neck, Dems in the state tell me. New piece: newrepublic.com/article/2133...

There is going to have to be a lot more thinking like this moving forward: creative ways to hold administration officials accountable for their actions (even if DJT gives blanket pardons to anyone who's served)

I have a piece in the NYT today arguing that the law should permit victims of ICE abuse to sue not just individual officers, but supervisors and policymakers like Stephen Miller and Gregory Bovino. A Democratic president and Congress could do this in 2029. And they could make it retroactive.

Trump’s exhibit focuses on the nation’s first executive mansion, Washington, slavery broadly — and also includes a few panels about the people enslaved by Washington in Philly. The panel renderings were previously criticized for minimizing slavery and whitewashing Washington’s culpability.
