At a pho place, after a very long day… Daniel to me: there’s a pitcher of water next to us. Me back: what? Did you say there’s a photo of a pigeon next to us??? Sadly, there was no photo of a pigeon. But we were able to look up photos of pigeons on our phones. You can too!

This is the second time I’ve been to Vegas. The first time, we drove over from college to see Star Trek: The Experience. This time it’s for the Trek to Vegas convention. So… Vegas is weirdly synonymous with Star Trek for me.
My brain’s usual overriding algorithm — if you hear Star Trek related words, that’s exciting and worth attention — does not work very well at this gigantic Star Trek convention. I keep hearing Star Trek related words from every direction, and my brain is overloading.
Fourteen hour drive to the big Star Trek convention? No problem. That’s just listening to the Strange New Worlds musical episode soundtrack 28 times.
Also, this year’s anniversary is a new high score! I thought we had been married for quite a few years on our last anniversary, but… We managed to top that! This year we have somehow managed to be married EVEN LONGER than last year! Hard to believe but true.
Today is my wedding anniversary! Coincidentally, it’s also @marylowd.bsky.social ‘s wedding anniversary! What are the odds?!? Just one more sign that we’re meant for each other. ❤️
When I was a kid, my dad got my sister and me all riled up about moving to the middle of nowhere and building a “dream house.” Anyway, I recently saw pictures of how it actually turned out, and this song is inspired by that feeling. #AImusic #AI #Suno youtu.be/T56DEzUP7ps?...

Things I have found GPT to be unquestionably better about than Claude: -discussing movies -doo-wop (like actual doo-wop, not just songs in general, but specifically the doo-wop parts of songs) This list may say more about my interests than the models' relative strengths.
Daniel and I were torn between three different movies to watch on our anniversary, so we asked Claude for better ideas... it's suggestions were terrible. So we asked GPT, and now our list is up to four.
I’ve got two wildly different books up for pre-order right now… The eighth book in the TRI-GALACTIC TREK CHRONICLES comes out in August, and then the third book in the XENO-SPECTRE trilogy comes out in September. Though, I will have some early copies for sale at WorldCon!
Only five days until CHESHIRE CAT CHARLATAN is out!

As an editor, I read and publish a lot of stories. But my favorite story ever written was published in Daily Science Fiction. I know nothing about the author, because there was no information I could find beyond the byline.
The line between “stolen” and “lovingly preserved” is so precariously thin these days.
I do have to wonder a bit what we're even doing as a society when writers are fighting tooth and nail to not have their stories be in places where people can still read them. And yeah, I know... but still.
This series is pretty neat. It has everything: Sci-fi, horror, space opera, found family, uplifted cats and dogs, lizard aliens, a central trans character, a life form with a unique lifecycle, sentient spaceship, ruins upon ruins, moth like aliens, the destruction of a space station, and weird food.
Cover reveal! My Xeno-Spectre trilogy was inspired by a long-standing desire to see a home world of the Xeno-morphs from Alien. So, I made my own terrifying parasitic aliens, wrote two books setting them up… and finally this! Out on 9/1/26 and available for pre-order now!

“Cute for You” is a song about a lizard alien figuring out how to perform mammalian cuteness. If you’re going to create a fictional reptilian pop-star, you’ve gotta make use of her cold-blooded nature. #AImusic #AI #suno #furry youtu.be/T8AEayyuOGA?...

In one of Cobalt Starstrong’s songs, he sings, “The sun doesn’t take a side.” So, Star-Shaker begins this album by countering that “The moon is on my side tonight.” Yes, my fictional pop-stars are in conversation with each other. #AImusic #AI #Suno youtu.be/3rRANLL6jAU?...

Eight years ago, I was writing a book mildly inspired by my time in college. Then it got interrupted by selling a book to a publisher on the promise of making it a trilogy ASAP… followed by the pandemic… followed by the chaos of my other publisher dropping me over AI…
Sure, walkable cities are great, but have you tried having a walkable DOG? Total game changer.
