When the swans took off yesterday afternoon, one banked left while the other continued straight. The one that went straight soon turned to follow the other over towards Willow Lake and the Richardson 💕
The sheer joy of finding a pair of jeans that comfortably fits cannot be overstated. I’d been elastic-waistband-only since before covid, but I’m now the proud owner of two (two!) pairs of jeans I could wear and wear and wear. Hallelujah 💕
The drive thru at the Palmer McDonald’s was a worthy stop yesterday 💕
I thought yesterday’s drive to Valdez was spectacular, but today’s journey to Palmer was height saturated color symphony. Coming through Eureka was especially beautiful, mostly making having to come in just for roofing screws tolerable 🧡
Drove down to Valdez to check out the Rarified Light photography exhibit at the museum. The drive was so beautiful, I mean, it always is but the fall colors put on such a good show…such a good show. I love this time of year 💛
Not sure why it’s taken me so long to realize I can make okonomiyaki with Krusteaz pancake mix, but the light bulb went off today and I did it and it was delicious 🇯🇵💕
Yesterday for the drive home we really could have done with a Dairy Queen malt, but since the DQ in Palmer is closed we hit the McDonald’s drive thru instead. I was so delighted to see posters for their Hello Kitty x Godzilla Happy Meal toys that my husband bought me a toy to go with my sundae 💕
It’s almost jacket-in-the-outhouse weather. Sigh. The tomatoes aren’t super happy this morning and my peppers are too tiny to pick yet. I did, however, see the nighttime moon for the first time in months. I suppose I’ll be able to see stars soon 🥶✨💕 (there needs to be an aurora emoji)
I know I’m loved by my BFF when she sends me home with enough cabbage, cauliflower, and cucumbers to last me all week (she knows I’m still trying to figure out gardening and she, as always, is more than generous with what comes out of her garden) 💚
If I can help it, I will probably never fly United again (super bad experience at SFO a few years ago). However, I appreciate the free birthday upgrade offer to Economy Plus they emailed me to use for travel anytime next month. Companies getting on the birthday train is nice to see 💕
Today’s print was going to be a congratulatory note for my sister, but after I printed the corners, I heard the news and switched tack. I might do another layer, I might not. Dolly, you will be missed.

My 77-year-old neighbor has to do a turn-and-burn to Anchorage today because hotel rooms are too expensive this time of year. It’s a problem for all of us, especially when medical stuff requires overnight stays. She’s going to have to do 9+ hours of driving on top of the things she needs to get done
Yeah… Sofra is a definite stop in Anchorage. Overfed myself with a serpme kahvaltı and, ohmeohmy, it was so delicious and I have no room for mochi donuts 💕
The ladies of Kenny Lake (some of us) are going on a Spa Jong weekend to Alyeska (spa + mah jong 🤣). The body-in-a-swimsuit gripes have started and it just makes me want to scream at everyone, YOUR BODIES ARE BEAUTIFUL! Our bodies are beautiful, and I refuse to see it differently 💕
The one thing I miss about being off the other social media sites is the reels/pics/blips my BFF sent me daily. She must miss it too because she’s started to screenshot stuff and text it to me 💕
Taught hubby how to use an old strainer to make a rudimentary pinhole camera to view the eclipse 💕
Husband is snoring beside me. Dog is snoring downstairs. I just looked outside and birds are snoozing on the pond. I’m ready for coffee but also am enjoying the sounds of others sleeping 💕

Valdez ladies’ fishing derby is today…. I’m not much of a fisher, but dagnabbit, I’m determined to catch myself a winner. Or at least have a lot of fun today out on the water with the girls 💕
