EA's Beloved Sci-fi Game Series in Doubt Under New Owners
While BioWare has said it is working on a new Mass Effect game, EA's recent acquisition by the Saudi's PIF has left the game's future in doubt.

There's a worry of studio closures, if some aren't sold off. Also, for IPs, EA will look to sell some. Just not sure which ones.
I've spoken to dozens of EA employees across various studios, and all of them believe large-scale layoffs will come in the first 12 months. Some have also told me that communication about the future has been mixed, but that's based on personal perspective, obviously.

Haven't told those Andromeda stories in a bit and, along with the vinyl soundtrack I got a couple weeks ago, it was the first time I'd smiled about Mass Effect in a while. Daniel Casey@danielcaseytypes.bsky.social · 4mo agoSo, I can’t talk about the specifics of what I’m writing (I’ve signed NDAs, etc) — but for whatever it’s worth, that article by the Ankler caught me off guard just as much as you. I don’t know where that “non-gaming audiences” quote came from or who said it, but at no point has that been said to me.

EA just reopened the Lead Level Designer and Principal Level Designer positions at BioWare. These openings are months-old but were not accepting new applications for a while.
