Enjoy cooking, baking, and gardening. Sports fan - football, cricket, rugby league. History graduate. Music lover. Theatre fan. Gay. NHS worker. Floating voter.
My first George Michael track is a loud declaration of a desire to keep moving artistically. The buoyant house-influenced piano riff and "Funky Drummer"-sampling beats are very 1990 and so joyous that they transcend their era, whilst the gospel-inspired vocals soar. The result is pop perfection.

A bonus track today as we segway between Elton John (July's pop icon) to August's music choice... the late, great George Michael. This is a duet between the pair from 1991 which gave them a trans-Atlantic No.1 #music #90s #Elton #GeorgeMichael
A slightly more grown-up take on a childhood classic: boiled eggs with spiced pitta dippers. Recipe from Tom Daley. #food #foodsky #breakfast
The picture on the front of Reform's policy is of HMS Ocean on the River Thames in 2012. It was sold by to the Brazilian navy in 2018. Turns out you can judge a book by its cover.
Brilliant letter from Stuart Thompson to Jeremy Clarkson about his comments that benefit claimants should write weekly thank you letters to tax payers detailing how they spend their benefits each week.
Breakfast today is a strawberry yoghurt pot, sprinkled with chopped pistachios. Recipe from Tom Daley. #food #foodsky #breakfast
Seems slightly strange that the Middlesex v Yorkshire one day game is taking place at Lords, when all the other one day cup matches are being hosted at outgrounds. #cricket
On #YorkshireDay, enjoy this lovely railway poster of the Yorkshire Dales by Ladybird artist Ronald Lampitt
Another policy area where Reform claim that they'd increase spending by slashing the foreign aid budget and reducing waste. The same answer they give to every spending commitment. Just how big do they think the foreign aud budget is? Fantasy economics 😂

Music this month comes from an artist who has sold over 300 million records worldwide, and is one of only 28 people to have achieved an EGOT. Despite all this success, I do feel like Elton often flies under the radar when people are discussing legendary musicians. #music #pop #Elton
I've been watching "Ann Droid" over the past few days. I was sceptical about it at first. It's not a laugh-out-loud comedy drama, but what it is is a heartwarming and pertinent tale about loneliness, connection and ageing.
The first recipe from Tom Daley's book is a British classic: beans on toast. This version is done with homemade baked beans and topped with a healthy "fried" egg (cooked in a small amount of water rather than oil).
An incredible lack of discussion about Tory failure in the media currently. Bizarre.

Long time followers will know that a new month = a new recipe book. I'm attempting a bit of a health kick in August with "Tom's Daily Plan" by Olympic diver Tom Daley. As well as lots of healthy recipes there are also workout suggestions to "get a leaner, stronger, healthier you in no time".
A little Friday treat after a long week. Raspberry cream with an oat crumble topping. Recipe from @nigelslater.bsky.social
Not the prettiest of meals but still very tasty. Baked eggs and tomatoes with giant couscous. Another summer eat from @nigelslater.bsky.social
We need to take a moment to salute Gianni Infantino for being the first person in history to get 55 European countries to unanimously agree on anything.
Fideua: a classic Valencian dish made with pasta and seafood. It's cooked in a similar style to paella so that it has a crusty base. Recipe from @nigelslater.bsky.social
Homemade gooseberry ice cream. If you're wondering why the fruit is pink rather than green, it's because I grow red gooseberries which are a bit less sour than their green counterparts.
Tomato, red pepper and basil soup. Served with charred homemade flatbreads.
A healthy way to start the day: fresh fruit with Greek yoghurt and homemade granola.
I can't find one guy who wants to date me, let alone several 😂
