Even if college/classes were somewhat affordable, do you guys think writing and art classes would be worth it? For me, I'm anti social enough and know a lot of creatives that are anti social enough that the networking with students and other teachers wouldn't happen, so...

...the authority figures of the time, Jack seems like a modern comedian trying to do zingers on people, the high action and supernatural elements. It's a "neo pirate" work of fiction, really, if that's a term...

I feel like also this would be true for Pirate films if it weren't for Disney and the Pirates of the Caribbean. Which is interesting bc I think of Pirate films as deeply European. I feel like they're also popular because they deconstruct...

-Sci fi replaced westerns bc of the space race (Toy Story 2 argument) -Westerns aren't as "high dopamine" as modern action films -mass urbanization -Less farmers in the world -Outdoor/blue collar work not as appealing or prevalent among young people -Westerns seen as promoting "toxic masculinity"

Dead genres fascinate me. Like the death of the western for instance. I think the factors for this were: -Nobody knows their local history -Americans are embarrassed of their own history -Nobody plays outside anymore (westerns are therefore less relatable)

Tbh this is what I love about non western fantasy and horror. There's usually no element of skepticism, rarely an element of "BUT GHOSTS ARENT REAL". Like, yes, they often get their metaphysics wrong, but they're not usually secular.

Bild

I don't mind so much when horror is allegory as much as it JUST being allegory because of how secular writers and creators can be now. That's why I feel films such as "Get Out" are more like social thriller films like "The Manchurian Candidate" than a film like "Nosferatu".

To me, at the end of the day, "furry" is just another genre, like westerns. I mean, there's a lot of furry content doesn't seem "furry" at all, at least in terms of what might be commonly promoted among furries on social media today. Narnia and Maus, anyone?

The goal here is not minimalism per se, just not forcing comics to movies, movies to be games in terms of scale, trope, ect. If that means your work suffers, so be it. By making a comic not be like a video game, you guaranteed that it's more unique, now.

Bild

And I think that I should therefore say briefly that this puts pressure for indies of all fiction formats (comics, novels, ect.) to be like the big dogs. To be maximalist all the time, to be bombastic, ect.

Bild

The average consumer doesn't really understand what a processor or a core is, either, they just know that the graphics look better and the games play smoother. At this point, the public expects movies and games to continually improve.

Another major way that contemporary stories are formed is through technology. This is why a lot of new, visual stories feel like tech demos. Despite what some people have said, computers keep on getting more powerful.

...it can be taken anywhere, and, short being thrown away, usually gets donated to someone else...someone who might be more likely to actually read it. These things can be a pain in the butt to print, but those are some advantages to the printed word/printed image!

Bild

I think a great solution for this, at least as far as comics and the written word go, is to have physical editions for your customers to buy. That way it's an object that can be constantly seen in their room, is distraction free (you can't "open another tab" with it)...

Bild

One way I to make shorter content stuff, obviously. This means far less commitment and if the video itself sucks, the consumer won't have to endure it long. These sorta of short form things dont take long to make either Obviously they are only skin deep too.

Bild

...is that your work is part of some kind of "to do list" for a potential consumer to experience, but ..it's been buried. It's been forgotten. There is some kind of lack of motivation to actually get through it. (My movie YT watchlist for reference.)

Bild

Might your readers be avoiding enjoying your stuff because of what I call the "backlog problem"? As you've probably guessed, the "backlog problem"... (My steam wishlist given for reference here, lol.)
