I loved this book, but it leaves out a really important part of history. When The Replacements opened for Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.

Today is Bandcamp Friday, which means it's the only day of the month that that musicians make any money. You should support a bunch of artists today to help them make more music. And if I can say, I'd love if you'd support widdle ole us. There's other ways you can show support too:

Fun music fact: the band Truck Stop Love from Kansas had a song titled You Owe because they were trying to write a song that sounded like Urge Overkill. Get it? UO? Anywho, they succeeded.

The Apple Music for Artists app isn’t working. How am I supposed to know where my 3 streams are coming from?

What's been your favorite album released in 2026 so far? I love The Jayhawks and Son Volt, but I've gotta go with Olivia Rodrigo's album as my favorite.

All it took was a wobbly wheel

All it takes it not thinking about what I should create and instead experience the world around me.

I finally put everything I do in one place. mattderda.com now has the band, Storymind, writing, the shop, marketing work + whatever I get into next. It’s not meant to sit there, either. New Storymind exercise every week, plus new music, writing and projects. Come poke around.

I like my coffee black. However, I am not above a cold brew with Harry Potter butterbeer cold foam.

It's Bandcamp Friday. So you know what that means...shameless plugs! But for reals, there are some songs that are only available on Bandcamp that are special to me. 🧵

Our vinyl is 20% off now through August 2nd. Get it before Morgan Wallen fans buy them all so they can smash them with their trucks. Use code SUMMER20 at checkout. elasticstage.com/mattderda/re...

Since it’s the 4th of July, I think it’s appropriate to share the music video to a song I wrote called Bad Day (Gettin’ Worse). I started writing it during the pandemic and… well, you’ll get it. youtu.be/ZJF_mORvzQQ?...

It’s okay to like things that are popular sometimes

Surprise! We released a new song for Bandcamp Friday! It's a cover of the Uncle Tupelo song We've Been Had that we recorded last year at the Law Office. Hope you like it! mattderdamusic.bandcamp.com/track/weve-b...

Finally got some stuff in the works. Going to have some updates very soon

If anyone tries to give you crap today you tell them Matt Derda said to stop their foolishness or he’s gonna give them a talking to.

Holy crap! Someone actually bought a song on iTunes. It’s been years since that has happened.
