Only Chiefs' move on Saturday's NFL transaction report is the free-agent signing of former Iowa DE Ethan Hurkett, as I reported this morning. He practiced with the club today, wearing No. 54. The Chiefs still have one open spot remaining on the active roster.

Dave Toub mentioned pulling Mansoor Delane out of special teams work, although he was on the kick return unit yesterday. He also mentioned Travis Kelce playing special teams his rookie season. He played one snap, on special teams, landing on IR with a preexisting microfracture in his knee.

Chiefs report that WR Cyrus Allen has a lower leg injury and is still being evaluated. WR Xavier Worthy left practice during the final period in the front of a cart with what the club says is shoulder related. Observation only: Worthy didn't seem distressed as he exited.

Chiefs officially placed DE Ethan Downs (torn ACL) and TE John Michael Gyllenborg (sprained knee) on injured reserve. They no longer count toward the 90-player limit. That leaves the Chiefs with two openings on the roster, with the first full-squad practice Wednesday morning.

The story on Chiefs DE Ethan Downs sustaining a torn ACL over the weekend, ending a roster bid for a promising edge rusher and four-phase special teams player. The injury leaves the Chiefs with seven edge players vying for potentially five spots. chiefsdigest.com/chiefs-de-et...
