I solve problems with plants. Prof. in Biotic Interactions. Founder of Boum. Swiss Mountain Farmer. Hopeful for the future.

Fellow scientists: We have left X (formerly Twitter), and ceded the field to software and technology advocates who babble about science. And people who criticize academia. This is not good. It will come back to bite us. Already does. We need to get back into the ring, even if we don't like it!

I do miss Sci. Twitter. It was such a great platform for informal exchange between colleagues of all career stages, plus a great mix with Tech & Society. Somehow we failed to build something equivalent once Twitter eroded. How do we get the spirit back?

Days of anonymous peer-review are officially over. I'm relieved and worried. Relieved that destructive reviews will become rarer (we will know who you are!). Worried because we have to make sure we keep our objectivity and standards and not descend into nepotism.

We have an open Post Doc position in plant-volatile interactions, starting April 2026. Ideal if you love to use molecular tools to understand the natural world and improve agriculture. Interested? Send your CV, grades, motivation letter and refs (single pdf!) to vera.ogi@unibe.ch. Please share.
