Only real answer, and I’m being serious, is to starve the rurals as much as possible so that they can further empty out and create more sensible voters in cities and suburbs
Asher Elbein@asherelbein.bsky.social · 2mo agoSomething we really have to grapple with: the Biden administration and Democratic congress worked pretty hard to drive real investment into rural communities, and many of them responded by spitting in the Democrats' face. This isn't an insurmountable problem, but it can't be papered over either
Stuff like this should rankle you, but also encourage you, because it’s great cause for destroying the institution altogether. Complete forfeiture of the public trust and the judicial function in favor of unaccountable, fiat policy making. Untenable, and they’ve given us the rope here.

Hope that some of the folks who ignored the 50 trillion red flags around this guy can figure out why they did so, as it’s cost us probably the most winnable senate seat of the cycle

Between the box office performance of Obsession and Backrooms (as well as several other recent films), it feels like something about American moviegoing tastes and habits are shifting very quickly in a way for which most of the people with the money to finance movies are completely unprepared.

It’s prices being high, that’s it. People remember cheaper prices for everything and want that back. This is independent of any concomitant rise in incomes, because most people’s brains don’t work on ratios or relative spending power
Will Stancil@whstancil.bsky.social · 3mo agoTHERE IS SOMETHING GOING ON HERE THAT WE CANNOT EXPLAIN. The economy is not in a recession. The economy is not worse than 2020 or 2008 or 1979. Whatever is happening here, it cannot be plausibly attributed to people’s real lived experiences. There is some other factor causing this collapse.

Takeout/delivery and cooking your own food are both wrong. Instead you should be extracting atmospheric dust, nutrients, and moisture using specialized microscopic hairs called trichomes.

But trans men also can't use single sex women's spaces, because they would make cis women uncomfortable by looking like men, even though what counts is sex assigned at birth.
