Over the last few weeks, in anticipation of seeing The Odyssey, B has been reading me the Samuel Butler translation. We finished up the read, decided to watch the classic O Brother, Where Art Thou? (based on The Odyssey), and then took ourselves off the Belcourt for an amazing 35mm screening.

This weekend, I went to NYC with my family to help my niece begin an adventure that started with one word: Yes. I said yes to going on this trip with them, and I’m so glad I did. We made memories that will ultimately add to the story of our family as we continue on this journey through life. ❤️
On June 26, 2015 the Supreme Court handed down the Obergefell decision—recognizing that same-sex marriages were legal. That day I had the great honor to officiate one of the 1st same sex marriages in Tennessee. Love is love. Y’all means all. ❤️ Here’s a pic of me dancing with my dad at my wedding!

Today, we celebrate Juneteenth. On June 19, 1865, the enslaved people of Galveston, Texas, were told they had been freed. Juneteenth recognizes and celebrates that moment and reminds us of how far we’ve come BUT how much further we have to go. Happy Freedom Day, Nashville. ❤️

My heart is so full after joining so many friends and neighbors to celebrate the designation of Senator Thelma Harper Parkway. Senator Harper was a trailblazer, a mentor, and a fierce advocate. She helped clear the path for so many leaders, and her impact can still be felt across Nashville today.
Headed out of town, and the best part of a delayed flight is being able to pop in to Na'Sah's and take advantage of their incredible services. Need a chair massage? Some love for your hands and feet? Cheyenne has you covered. Thank you. Now on to my destination. 💗
