At drop-in this week, we learned that we lost another community member to overdose over the weekend. He had been coming to drop-in for years (at least a decade), and I always enjoyed yapping with him every week. This never gets any easier.

Today is one of those days in which I want to pack up my cats and Irish Exit for a few months. Sort of like the song "The Way" by Fastball, expect the three of us live and come back in the end all refreshed and ready to take on the bullshit again (well, my cats have easy lives, but you know).

I'm heartbroken to share that Marvin (known to readers of There Is No Place for Us as Maurice) died earlier today in a workplace accident. He was 43. Natasha (Natalia in the book) asked me to share this news because she is too devastated to do so herself. We are all in shock.

The article is clear that people who didn’t eat at Taco Bell also got sick, so it’s not a unique product only they carry. I’d be wary of any prepared chopped iceberg lettuce, from anywhere, on anything, until they get a more precise track on the supply chain. Salads, sandwiches, just avoid.

The University of Washington has some very detailed reports they have made about WHY this is happening. They are using Washington States DOL data. It’s illegal in WA, but the system is accessed via law enforcement and the Feds keep using it anyway. They are most likely doing this EVERYWHERE. 🧵

Persephone (my kitten) has taken to monitoring me when I clean out the litterboxes and scoops out litter with her paws alongside me. It is kind of gross and not super helpful (she gets litter everywhere), and it is also one of the cutest things I have ever experienced.
