I am proud to have joined my colleagues across the aisle in introducing the READ Act. This bill strengthens evidence-based Science of Reading instruction to tackle America’s literacy crisis and help every child succeed. Together, we’re improving literacy nationwide.

I am grieving alongside another community terrorized by gun violence. My heart is with the people of Twin Falls, Idaho and I am praying for those who are now dealing with the devastation of losing a loved one. I will continue to fight for a safer America.

Today, we honor the life of our dear friend and civil rights icon Congressman John Lewis. From leading the march across the Edmund Pettus Bridge to serving in the House, he never stopped fighting for justice. May we keep making good trouble and advancing the work he devoted his life to.

I am grateful that the Supreme Court reaffirmed the independence of our Federal Reserve Board. Federal Reserve governor Lisa Cook earned her seat through decades of expertise and leadership.

The Supreme Court struck down a state law requiring permission to carry guns in private spaces like stores, restaurants, and hotels. This sets a dangerous standard that threatens public safety. The American people deserve better.

Today in Education & Workforce Committee, I urged my colleagues to support my amendment to H.R. 5505 so no student is punished for actions they didn’t commit. Accountability belongs with those responsible. Families deserve justice, and we shouldn’t undermine a bipartisan bill that saves lives.

I remain committed to advancing legislation that protects our children and prevents the next tragedy before it occurs. We owe it to every family touched by gun violence, and to every family we can still protect, to meet this moment with courage and conviction.

Today marks four years since SCOTUS overturned Roe v. Wade. Reproductive care is health care. Your personal decisions belong to you and no one else.

The Benton MacKaye National Scenic Trail Feasibility Study Act has passed the House! The 288-mile Benton MacKaye Trail connects communities across Georgia, Tennessee, and North Carolina, welcomes more than 100,000 visitors, and is maintained by hundreds of dedicated volunteers.

Happy Pride Month! 🏳️‍🌈 As a proud member of the Equality Caucus, I'm working alongside my colleagues in Congress to defend the LGBTQI+ community’s rights. Pride is about more than rainbows or parades—it’s a reminder of both how far we have come and the work we must still take on.

May is Older Americans Month. This week, I was privileged to spend time with so many senior residents across our district to hear their concerns and make sure they know my office is here to assist with federal issues.

Veterans are far more likely to die by firearm suicide than the average American, yet this bill removes safeguards from the background check system with no regard for their safety. I stand with my colleagues against this dangerous change.

There is no excuse for paying someone below minimum wage just because of a disability. Job seekers with disabilities deserve real pathways to independence, employment, and fair wages for their work. This issue is personal to me. Equal work should earn equal pay.

Once again in America, a faith community has been devastated by gun violence. My heart is with the victims of the senseless shooting at the Islamic Center of San Diego, their families, and all those across the country who are grieving what appears to be an anti-Muslim attack.

Today, we celebrate 61 years of Head Start and the more than 40 million children and families it has served, including right here in Georgia’s 6th District. Strong communities start with strong foundations, and Head Start makes that possible.

We continue to reflect on the life and legacy of Rep. David Scott. He was a fierce advocate for farmers, young Black scholars, and communities too often unheard. His leadership and voice left a lasting mark on Congress and this country. We miss you, David.
