It must suck being a second child. With my first baby, there's no way I'd have ever left her lying on a changing mat while I made lunch - the darling princess must have her baby gym or her bouncy chair! Second baby? Meh, as long as she's not crying it's probably fine 🙈

Suddenly remembered about the time I got on a plane and had to show the air hostess our tickets on my phone but she swiped the wrong way and got a photo of this My First Hitler Book i found in the library

Usborne children's picture book about Hitler

Forever behind on this sort of thing, but I finally had a look at the 2025 Stoker Awards recommended list aaaaand... The Somnambulist was on it! I had so much fun with this story, it's really nice to see it getting some love 🥰

This happened to me 4hrs after giving birth, when they wanted to move me off labour ward & send husband home. Crying, shaking, midwife offering "reassurance". Got to pp ward, had a >1.5L haemorrhage, sent straight back to labour ward. At least they let husband stay after that 🙃

Reading a novel atm that's making me think a lot about chapter lengths. What would you say is the ideal length for a chapter? Does too short = annoying, too long = relentless? Or do you prefer if they vary in length? 📚

Our 2.5 year old believes that the dehumidifier collects water out of the air, we empty it into the sink, and it fills the sink up with water which we access by means of the taps. This is so sensible and clever I don't have the heart to tell her it's completely wrong 😂

I'm so obsessed with getting gas out of my baby. I love knowing the exact way to fold her little legs up to help her fart, or exactly where to rub her back to get the burps out. Ridiculously satisfying 🥰

An unanticipated perk of breastfeeding is actually having more time than usual to read! When someone else is watching the toddler that is 😂 I just finished Katabasis and have started A Stranger in Olondria 📚

Things that did not send me into labour: - kerb walking - climbing stairs sideways - exercise ball - eating dates - spicy food - baking a Hurry Up Baby cake Things that DID send me into labour: - my toddler wandering over with a huge spider crawling up the side of her neck 🕷 😶

Today is a bit of a milestone - we are now as far along in this pregnancy as we were the day Marnie was born! So happy that everything seems to be going more smoothly this time round 🤞 and thankful as always for NHS Scotland and their excellent medical care ❤️

Tiny Marnie asleep in an incubator with her dada's hand on her back

2yo is learning grammar and it's so fascinating. At first she only referred to herself in 3rd person ("Marnie want some apple"), then had a long phase of weirdly using 2nd person ("Did you have fun at the playpark?"), and she's now using 1st person ("I just want some grapes")

Weird side effects this pregnancy that I didn't get last time: - Low iron (feels like I'm dying unless I eat a steak) - One toe went randomly numb for weeks - Tiny but constant amounts of blood inside my nose - No appetite except for very bland food - Pelvic girdle pain arghhh 😫

Hello friends, looking for recommendations - is there like a French version of Elena Ferrante's Neapolitan series? Complicated female friendships, marriage / children, that kind of thing, but in French?
