I really like @theathletic.com (I happily pay for it), but this is just a ridiculous framing of things. Aaron Rodgers is a conspiracy theory nut case, Sophie Cunningham is transphobe, and Caitlin Clark is afraid of saying anything possibly controversial. Those three are not the same thing.

@instapaper.com Any chance of a feature that automatically applies tags to saved articles? I love the idea of tags, but I never have time to sort through and add different ones to all my saved pages.
Ok, I was unsure about the name at first, but this video really leans into the spooky vibes. I can respect that.
It’s official. The WNBA’s 16th team is the Cleveland Sirens.
YES for Lindsey Patrick-Wright for TN Senate District 17! But also YES for Chaney Mosley for US House District 6! (I know Aftyn only said people in the state legislature, but Chaney is awesome.)
If you didn’t make it to the polls during Early Voting, you can still vote on Election Day, NEXT THURSDAY, August 6th! I’m supporting the following candidates as I need collaborative organizers in office. ✅ Justin Pearson for TN-9 ✅ Lindsey Patrick-Wright for TN SD-17 ✅ Beth West for TN HD-59
Reason number 1,267,365 why Cheryl Reeve is an awesome person. It's rare that someone can be the best there is in their job at a major level and still be an amazing person even outside of that.
What, they lied? Who would have thunk? So the pool damage was due to the poorly installed insulation.
DOJ moves to dismiss Reflecting Pool vandalism charges against David Hearn, says damage due to "botched installation"
Federal prosecutors moved to dismiss an indictment charging U.S. Olympic canoeist David Hearn with ripping the bottom of the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, saying the damage was caused by "botched ...

I grew up on a farm, & my family still farms so I keep up with that world a little bit. The number of farmers & rural families that absolutely HATE anything related to AI is really interesting. It's not just anti-data centers but AI-generated flyers or graphics also routinely get mocked & ridiculed.

Good mini-thread here on what's happening and why it has nothing to do with security.
Did you see the headlines about how Trump was banning "Chinese humanoid robots?" The ban is FAR bigger than that. It will also sweep up Roombas. www.theverge.com/policy/97231...
@leahlitman.bsky.social I just went to the comments on the YouTube version of the most recent @strictscrutiny.bsky.social episode, and holy cow is that a minefield of men proving the point that we mens are not ok. I'm really sorry for anyone who has to see all that stuff. Thanks for what you do.
This is very good to see. Not sure if it'll be the same format as the NBA, but hopefully this will help cut down on the needlessly long reviews we see all the time.
Cathy Engelbert announces the WNBA is launching a “fully centralized” replay center beginning with the 2027 season. Meant to help with “Efficiency and transparency” in officiating process.
I'm pretty sure @davejorgenson.bsky.social has done more publicity for overhead protectors in the last few months than anyone has in decades. Between that and regular use of CRT TVs, his videos make my elder millennial heart happy. 👍
Will Americans foot the bill for AI data centers?
You might have heard us say that FCC Chairman Brendan Carr is a dummy. We even made a little GIF to demonstrate his recent failure to enforce a foreign drone ban. So what's the deal with this guy, anyway? We've been covering Carr's exploits for a while now, so let us walk you through it: 🧵
In December, the US government banned foreign consumer drones, claiming that the devices posed a threat to national security. But instead of creating new US consumer drone companies, the ban is incentivizing fake ones instead. Read more from @seanhollister.bsky.social: buff.ly/3jnK87k
Got the chance to see these talented players in action today! It was great having the @wnba.com at Home Court at the Obama Presidential Center for All-Star Weekend. 🏀

For the first time this season, Napheesa Collier is listed as “probable.” We could see Collier make her season debut on Wednesday afternoon in Seattle.
Gotta love when "news" outlets report on a survey & never link to the actual data. In this case, an EdTech company makes lofty claims about AI usage of students. That's entirely possible, but I'm interested to see the actual data & how they surveyed people, but now I'm left to do my own digging.
I'm not a law student, lawyer, and have no idea what taking the bar is like, but even I feel better about life after reading this thread. Good luck to anyone taking the bar exam! Remember, if people like Ted Cruz can become a lawyer, so can you. 👍
The bar exam is next week. I teach the bar studies course every spring at Akron and I coach students for the July exam every summer. If you are studying for the bar (or know someone who is) I have some thoughts for you as you approach the exam. 🧵
For almost two months and counting, the @wnba.com iPad app has been completely broken in landscape mode. Is this just me, or do other #WNBA fans have the same issue?
Almost a month later, & this is still the view of the WNBA app in landscape on an iPad. It's like they tested this on an iPhone, said I'm sure iPads are the same, & just shipped it. $3 billion media deal, and they can't hire a couple of iOS devs who remember iPads exist? Come on @wnba.com.

I've encouraged people to look into Chaney Mosley for Congress (TN-6) several times, & if you need one place to look before you vote in the primary, here's a good set of answers from Chaney to a questionnaire from the @nashvillebanner.bsky.social. nashvillebanner.com/2026/07/16/c...

Also in District 6, Chaney Mosley is running on the Democratic side. I've literally known Chaney since I was in high school, so I know he's a great man who will do amazing in Congress. I really encourage you to look into him if you live in the district. www.chaneymosley.com

Early voting in Tennessee starts tomorrow. Want to know who's running? We'll be sharing profiles of some of the races we've been writing over the last few weeks. First up: The Congressional District 6 Republican primary, featuring former Congressman Van Hilleary and state Rep. Johnny Garrett.
1) She pushed off of the defender when going up for the layup. I don't think it's a foul, but I've seen it called before. 2) Any other player in the league would have gotten a tech for going after a ref like that. And it would be rightly deserved.
Caitlin Clark went off on one of the referees when a foul was not called (via USA)
