🤯 Some prescription prices don't just surprise you... they stop you in your tracks. The retail price of Nitisinone 10mg can be as high as $12,510 for 30 capsules. With costplusdrugs.com, it's $3,940.16! A $8,569.84 difference! www.costplusdrugs.com/medications/... Valid prescription required.
Great question. I'll see if there is a path
Hi Mark, I love Cost Plus, but with Medicare do not see a way to have costs go toward the Medicare deductible. With the cost support for Medicare being cut for 2027, please see if there is a way to have a Part D that allows deductibles.
🎬 And the next price drop is... Risedronate Sodium 5mg, now 25% lower on costplusdrugs.com! ➕ www.costplusdrugs.com/medications/... Transparent pricing means when our costs go down, yours does too. ➡️ Find thousands of transparently priced medications at costplusdrugs.com

I still subsidize every script filled at cost plus. We are getting closer to break even. Not there yet. And I’m all for Universal Care. What I’m against is thinking it will automagically work if M4A legislation is passed. We should be challenging pols to provide a plan.
But he specifically is against MFA/universal healthcare- cheap drugs is a good start but he also makes money off it, so it’s not wholly charitable work.
Cost Plus has helped me numerous times when the choice is food or meds. Now it's down to one or two meds as opposed to all of them. Besides, he was smart enough to leave Pittsburg AND go to IU.
I think he's pointing out that the fact there is no clearly agreed upon cutoff demonstrates a flaw in the original argument. The whole concept of "earning" vs. "exploiting" in capitalism gets pretty fuzzy when we dig into the details. Exploitation happens but it's hard to define.
"Always judge a person purely by their bank account" - @bluesky
What the cutoff ? 1b , but not 999m ? 500m 100m 10m ? 1m ? At what point is it exploitation or someone did the dirty work ?
You can't earn a billion dollars Mark, you either get it or you don't, but you can't earn the claim to resources that such a sum represents. You MUST exploit others to gain that kind of wealth, or have it left to you by someone else who did that dirty work.
Just my opinion. My exposure to him as a non New Yorker, is via his social media posts.
How do you have such suspicions about Mamdani? How are you drawing your conclusions? Is it that everyone has a hidden agenda, but does mean it's a bad agenda? Isn't the secret to earning a vote is to govern for the people and make their communities better?
To believe someone with 100k in assets, in the context of 40 percent of Americans who can't afford a $400 emergency is to believe that person is contributing ....
To believe a human being with a billion dollars “earned” that wealth in the context of someone with 100K in assets is to believe that the billionaire is personally contributing 10,000x times more value to the economy than the other human being. Utter horseshit. You’re more lucky than special.
I'm fine with whatever he does. If it works. Great. NY benefits. If it doesn't, it sets back the DSA movement forever. My personal opinion from the outside, is that he is a politician with big aspirations first Focused on improving NY, second.
Prolly enjoying seeing what Mamdani is doing for SBs in NYC, I'd imagine.
I'm not a fan of licensing schemes that states use. Ice written against the crazy fees charged for things like being a hair washer in Louisiana lobservateur.com/2023/05/22/o...

The phrase is “unearned rent extraction” which the IRS does not define. Rent extraction includes things like licenses for plumbers. Any barrier to entry in a market through regulation or capital is a form of “rent extraction”.

It's very electorally relevant. Democrats are absolutely TERRIBLE at talking about the good things they've done.
True, local voices are crucial, but they often get drowned out in the larger political machinery. If the Democratic leadership embraces this moment to unify and project positivity, it could set a compelling narrative heading into November. Let's see if they can capitalize on it!
Individual mayors have spoken. That has no impact on senatorial and national politics. It's an opportunity for dem leadership to be proud and to set a foundation to counter the inevitable negativity that will come in November.
Besides being very low-relevance electorally, this also seems objectively inaccurate

Thousands of people lost coverage over as little as $8 in delinquent payments. They didn't know their zero-dollar premiums had gone up and they owed money. Most now can't get coverage until 2027.

I’m glad to know that. I never thought I’d be using costplusdrugs, but I never thought Medicare would do this for a standard drug. So far, it is the second medication that they’ve demanded a pre-authorization for. It makes me laugh now, because the cash price for the inhalant is less than $30!
My prescription eye drops, the only one I can tolerate because of allergies, is $600 less expensive on Cost Plus Drugs compared to major chain pharmacy with Part D drug plan.
