Sad to learn of the death of Walter Koenig, whom I first knew as Chekov on ST:TOS, but whom I was lucky enough to meet on several occasions over the past 35 years. He was a friend of my husband, Len Wein, and appeared on episodes 50 and 176 of Go Fact Yourself. Rest in Peace, Walter.

I got a renewal invoice for a magazine to which I have a subscription. I also give 6 or 7 gift subscriptions every year at Christmas. The yearly gift subscriptions jumped from $10 to $50. That’s way out of my budget and I probably won’t renew my own. Great country for the rich, not boutique mags.

This is utter and complete bullshit. The provision on work made for hire under the 1976 Copyright Act were to allow EDUCATIONAL publishers (the lying shits) to steal work, not other kinds of publishing. See CCNV v. Reid. Footnote specifically cites artists being hurt by w4h. In negotiation: say NO!

Watching Lanterns has reminded me how much I love Green Lantern comics and as a result I've been reading the Wein/Gibbons & Englehart/Staton runs and really enjoying them. What should I reread next? Morrison/Sharp? Johns? Silver Age? Or something else? What's the most recent run been like?

A friend of mine paid for a tour guide when he had an exhibit of his work at the Smithsonian Museum if Natural History and brought members of his family to town. He invited me to go along for the ride. Great fun and we went places I had never been after 10 years living there as a photojournalist.

I oppose making Daylight Savings Time permanent. It saves nothing. I have no objection to Standard Time being permanent 365 days a year. I hate the change twice a year.

Two people are dead after a shooting in a strip mall less than a mile from the house. Not enough info to know exactly where it took place, but helicopters are overhead and the video I saw showed lots of flashing lights at Reseda and Nordhoff. Location is NE corner, a block or two from CSUN.

We could’ve had a woman who prosecuted rapists as a president. Instead, we got a rapist as a president. 
I heard my Afghan outside, howling. Figured the neighbors would not appreciate it, so I went to get him. He was sitting with his nose pointed at the moon, singing away. I’ve noted before, I have never had a dog who spends so much time staring at the sky.
I cannot support him for President. He’s selling people out left and right.
