A local plant nursery is going out of business because of water restrictions that have nothing to do with drought Come to find out that Phlugerville has zero regulations on data centers and they're building another one

Green Sleeves Native Nursery in Pflugerville, Texas just East of Austin might go under after taking a bit economic hit from water restrictions enacted by the city of Pflugerville that were unrelated to drought. Basically, the city reservoir was mismanaged and city officials didn't realize it had sprung a major leak until six months after the fact. The nursery owner had to physically truck water in every day for a few weeks at the beginning of the summer, which put them a few dozen grand in the hole.

If this nursery closes, it will be a huge hit for the native plant movement in Central Texas. They grow a ton of rare natives that nobody else carries and they sell it at affordable prices. I've given them a ton of seed because I know they'll grow it well and sell it at affordable prices and the more rare native plants I'll encounter (and the less crepe myrtles and nandina I'll have to look at, both of which make me wanna puke).

Please go buy some stuff from them. Attached is a list of the inventory they have.“Skybox is excited to launch our newest data center facility in Pflugerville, which offers innovative, sustainable and adaptable turn-key and powered shell solutions that will benefit our enterprise and hyperscale customers in Austin and across the country,” said Rob Morris, CEO of Skybox Datacenters. “The innovative incentives program designed in partnership with the City of Pflugerville offers direct benefits to data center tenants, with no speculative risk from the community, in order to attract the best possible users to deploy their compute at Skybox Austin I.”
