Update on the previously reported PlayStation 1 Console Display diorama: A listing has gone up on Target's website, but the item is currently marked as being "out of stock." The listing offers a new look at what seem to be the final designs of the figures.

On this day in 2007 (19 years ago), MediEvil was added to the PlayStation Store in Europe. However, it was removed a few days later due to "failing at the third level." This was likely due to LibCrypt copy protection. The game was added back to the store on September 20, 2007.

A screenshot from the archived version of the website ThreeSpeech showing what games will be added to the PlayStation Store on July 26th. Among the games to be added is MediEvil.A screenshot from the Official PlayStation Community forums showing a post by Lestrade, the Community Team Coordinator. Lestrade explains that MediEvil has been removed from the PlayStation Store after reports of it failing at the third level, and that it will be added back once the issue is fixed.

Last week, the Bayeux Tapestry arrived on British soil... but did you know that PlayStation UK created a MediEvil "Bayeux Tapestry" to promote the MediEvil remake back in 2019?

Tapestry depicting Dan's death in the Battle of Gallowmere. Text below reads: "Verily did Sir Daniel Fortesque seek to slay the sorcerer Zarok. And verily did he fail. Biggeth time!"Tapestry depicting Dan looking at his statue in his crypt. The text below it reads: "Five score years of death did Sir Dan dwell, until awoken by a spell. To joineth the Hall of Heroes for one chance left to redeem his honour."Tapestry depicting Dan fighting enemies with his arm. The text below it reads: "Sir Dan did fight the forces of evil by arming himself... ...with his arm."Tapestry depicting Dan fighting Zarok's Beast Transformation with his arm. The text below it reads: "Lest he lose his honour, Sir Dan must defeateth his olde foe, the evil Zarok. An eye for an eye."

On this day three years ago, PlayStation Productions finalised a promotional video that featured Sir Dan. This was because they were working on a MediEvil film at the time. As of 2025, the film is no longer in production.

Sony ends physical production in 2028. The bomb we hoped they were smart enough to never trigger. Discoverability, dead. Ownership, dead. Legal preservation, dead. Micro publishers, dead. A billion $ market, and they just throw it away.

Physical disc production ending in January 2028 for new games releasing on PlayStation consoles

In response to shifting trends in consumer preference, new games will be released on PlayStation Store and at retailers in digital formats only.

A Console Heroes PlayStation Diorama was unveiled earlier this year at the New York Toy Fair. The diorama features figures of four first-party PlayStation characters, including MediEvil's Sir Dan. It is expected to release later in the year.

Did you know? MediEvil's Ant Caves used to have bats in them. This is because they were originally caves of man-sized ants. This also explains the cave paintings found within.

Did you know? MediEvil's "The Lake" level was initially one of the game's last levels. It was conceptualised as a part of an ancient land underneath Gallowmere that Zarok wanted to plunder. Dan would have had to activate crystals in order to cause the land to implode, thus ending Zarok's plans.

Crazy timing given my announcement earlier today - I have been doing a deep clean/tidy up of my old work studio and found yet more original MediEvil design work! Including - The very first original physical acetate slides (pre-PowerPoint) made to pitch the game to would-be investors. Pre- Sony.

As I start the journey to make a new spooky indie adventure game, I will also be creating a couple of one off pieces of original MediEvil art to sell - drawn in the exact style and materials of the hand drawn design work I did for the original games.

Did you know? The developers of MediEvil considered splitting The Enchanted Earth level into two at one point. In this second part, Dan would have been shrunken down by Witches after finding their eyeball, allowing him to enter a tree house in the forest.

The photo presents a top-down wireframe of a part of "The Enchanted Earth" level from MediEvil. It features annotations (likely from Jason Wilson) about how this can be adapted for an "Enchanted Earth Part 2" level. This includes reusing enemies from cut Morten levels, Dan being shrunken down by witches, as well as how the level would lead into Pools Of The Ancient Dead.

Did you know? The Dragon's lair in MediEvil's Crystal Caves level had a very different look to begin with. For example, there was only one hole for the dragon to poke his head out of.

Today marks the 26th anniversary of MediEvil II's release in North America. Although this version came out later, it is more or less the same as the PAL region version safe for bug fixes, the game speed, and logo.
