Most unhinged quote is actually *after* the highlighted one I'm never inviting this guy to a dinner party
Oh my god the dietician who is telling everyone in the White House to only eat steak and sauerkraut doesn't wipe his ass.

Pleased to learn that The Amish Outlaws (a cover band of Amish who didn't return from their rumspringa) will be playing @musikfest.bsky.social just as the @alyankovic.bsky.social show is wrapping up on the stage right next to his. I need to see an "Amish Paradise" collab.
“It’s like the guy who’s going broke and decides he’s going to take his last $1,000 and go to the racetrack, because he believes he’s going to win and then he can make everything better.”
“Nearly 200 private colleges borrowed from restricted endowments in 2025, up from 131 in 2021, according to estimates from Perspective Data Science, a higher-education financial consultant. Schools used most of the money for everyday expenses, said Matthew Hendricks, the company’s founder.”
Sometime in the second half of my 30s, I arrived at a point at which I need two good nights of sleep to make up for one bad one and this is a part of aging no one warned me about
Best part of the kids’ Lego builds is these two cats enjoying their beach chairs. I am jealous of these cats.
I already rejected the invitation to activate Gemini in my Equinox EV and I sure hope I'm given the option to reject this as well My #1 beef with EVs is how tech-heavy they are. I'd love the tech of my 2009 Toyota Sienna (5-disc CD changer!) with the battery power of my EV
Companies are all in on selling folks the idea that it’s in your best interest for your products to “know you” as if you are getting a dedicated servant but what you are really getting is a spy.
"In a competitive primary—which this is sure to be—that lack of genuine enthusiasm, that sense of 'well, this is the best we can get,' is costly." 👏 Couldn't agree more with this piece from @hamiltonnolan.bsky.social. I'd love to see this happen.

Can't wait to deploy this on the person I used to work with who seems to have built an entire career on slop (including completely made-up data they provided, pre-AI, during an interview with me! data that I didn't discover was completely made up until they moved to a bigger and better job!)
Oh my God, this is not a drill - LinkedIn has added 'seems like AI slop' as an option on posts Genuinely thought it was a joke until I clicked on a few posts
Record outbreak of diarrhea-causing parasite 20M eggs recalled due to salmonella Worst air quality in world from wildfire smoke UN says world risks HIV resurgence due to funding cuts Most measles cases in 35 years They’re going after Fauci to distract you from current public health failures
I've been reading the kids enough Junie B. Jones books (which are very funny) that I've started saying things like "plus also" in conversation
Whenever I see a quote like this I'm reminded of how my grandfather never cursed in front of me until he got dementia
This is the thing about all the AI writing "tells." AI uses em dashes because the *real human writers* whose work was stolen to train AI also use em dashes! You can pry my em dashes from my cold, dead hands. Or: "Why should I change? He's the one who sucks."
Ugh, Nvm

I'm not letting AI horseshit maneuver me into a defensive position with my writing. I write like I write. I love emdashes. I keep using emdashes. Whatever we write, AI will take and copy it -- all you can do is keep writing the best shit you can write in the form you want it to take, and fuck it.
How many of us will be unable to vote because we're weeks into repeated bouts of explosive diarrhea?
I'm starting to wonder if Trump's *real* plan for the midterms is to make America such an unbearable hellscape that it's impossible to make it to a polling place. "OK ... avoiding deadly eggs and bacon for breakfast, gassing up the car at $6 a gallon, navigating through the ICE checkpoint ..."
OK, this is wild and basically the opposite of what I always thought it was about? (i.e. drunken hookups)
No song meaning has more radically changed for me than learning that Semisonic's "Closing Time" is about bringing a preemie home from NICU
Waking up to a broken coffee maker on a Monday morning just feels like a terrible omen for the week.
It's giving "George's Marvelous Medicine," the Roald Dahl book in which George serves his mean grandma a cocktail of various items (including medicine for their animals) and she grows so tall that her head bursts through the roof of the house
“The committee ended the day by voting in favor of injectable TB-500, a peptide that, according to the F.D.A., was initially developed as a veterinary drug to boost performance in horse or greyhound racing.” IT HAS NOT PREVIOUSLY BEEN STUDIED IN HUMANS. THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE.
so many reasons to love @alyankovic.bsky.social “I wish people would offer me things that I didn’t feel bad about accepting." 😂

Pool report from @svdate.bsky.social, who is at the World Cup ceremony: "The president walked onto the field at 1826 to a sustained chorus of boos. Ambient crowd noise was about 78 decibels. Booing brought it to 84."
One of my core memories of visiting Barcelona is accidentally ordering a big plate of ham at a restaurant. Didn’t come with bread or anything else. Just a big ol’ plate of ham. What a meal I had
Congrats to Spain. A generational ham country. Ham as a fingerfood, ham as a meal. They earned that trophy in my book. The ham book, in this instance.
Did Fox turn up the music on the broadcast to drown out the booing
This is the argument the local data center developer made last night — that a lot of arguments against data centers online are misinformation generated by the Chinese so they can get ahead Funny how no one seems to care that they're ahead in renewable energy and EV technology/adoption...
David Sacks, AI investor and White House tech advisor, warned Friday that the U.S. is on track to lose the AI race to China.
Overflowing crowd at City Hall for this public planning commission meeting on a proposed data center in Allentown
The presenter on behalf of the data center at the podium with his single-use plastic water bottle like IDGAF
Yeah let’s cut down a bunch of trees (red dots) to build this data center no one wants
And we have the technology to stop making it worse, and in every country other than the US that technology is being deployed at massive scale, and it’s not only cleaner but cheaper, and yet … here we are
At this point I don't really think anyone is even bothering much with denying climate change, instead there's just this insidious loss of interest, and resignation, but the thing is as bad as it is and will get it could still get a LOT worse depending on what we do
Editing a very obviously AI-generated story while I need to wear a mask in order to go outside due to climate-change-driven wildfire smoke has me EXTREMELY FIRED UP to go oppose this proposed data center yeah let's burn the planet so a computer can draft a story like "___ isn't ____, it's ____"

Days like today make me think of how I managed to live 36.5 years on this planet, all in the northeastern U.S., without ever breathing in wildfire smoke and how it's already affected my kids' pre-K graduation, camp, etc. And it's depressing!
