Yesterday I pulled off a gathering at my home with 24 family members. I fed them. I kept them entertained. Everyone seemed happy. Please clap. (I plan to take three naps today)

I loathe having to do this every year, but that loathing does not make the need go away. I am once again begging for classroom supplies for my amazing students. Anything & everything is much appreciated (feel free to get stuff from places other than Amazon, too!)! www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/...

👀 People need to realize that even though THEY may not directly vote for BS like school vouchers, THE POLITICIANS THEY VOTE INTO OFFICE DO. I’m looking at you, Ohioans… this is why we need @amyactonoh.bsky.social as governor.
Do you want to know how popular school vouchers are? They have never won on a ballot. Not once. In any state. Ever. The only way states are able pass a school voucher scheme is behind closed doors. Legislatively. The people would never approve their tax dollars going to private religious schools.
Executive function schmexectutive schmunction. This is no time for that.
I refuse to repost the Instagram content that’s prompting me to make this statement, but what’s left of the U.S. Department of Education is an absolute joke and a propaganda tool for ignorance. Shame.
The sky is a brownish gray. Breathing burns. Usually when I turn on my air filter in the morning, the ick level is at 2 or 3. This morning it was 26. I can only imagine what it’s like north of here!
Look at this hummingbird moth! I just found out they exist, thanks to my mom’s pollinator garden.
Needlework has become one of my most time-consuming hobbies. It’s great to be able to stab something 40,000 times & not get arrested. Here’s my current 2/3 completed cross-stitch WIP. (Credit to the Etsy seller DissentStitch for the pattern.)
Black Excellence Day at Progressive Field is likely getting rained out today. Where, now, are all of the crazy MAGA people who believe that weather is controlled by liberals? Also: @mlb.com needs to officially make July 5 Larry Doby Day.
I regret to admit that for the past few days I haven’t been able to shake the constant feeling that I’m supposed to be somewhere else, or at least doing something else…
English teacher life: all the essays and exams are marked but you wander around dazed, not quite believing it, there must be more, this can't be real
Brb, heading to my desk to write a poem inspired by the hilariously bad subtitles on the new Mortal Kombat movie.
I’m just a cat, standing in the kitchen, meowing for you to open the refrigerator & GIVE ME THE CHICKEN THAT I KNOW IS IN THERE, YOU STUPID BITCH!
Happy Caturday from Violet & Carlos, who certainly did not consent to me posting these hilariously unflattering (yet adorable) pics.
POSSIBLE BABY I realize there are many ethical issues with using the Citizen app, but I stick around simply for the opportunities its headlines provide for grammar discussion with my students.
Marjane Satrapi’s book Persepolis is great—I’ve taught it to hundreds of students over the years—but on a personal level, her book Embroideries affected me even more. Give it a read if you aren’t familiar with it. www.npr.org/2026/06/04/n...
Marjane Satrapi, author of 'Persepolis,' dies at 56
The Iranian-French cartoonist and filmmaker was perhaps most well-known for the graphic memoir, and subsequent film, about her life during the Iranian revolution in 1979.

The hardest part of having the same chronic disease that killed my dad & left my aunt bedridden should NOT be spending hours going back & forth on the phone with my insurance, PCB, & specialty pharmacy trying to get my monthly medication copay under $4,900… But today it is, & I hate it.
I am in unpacking hell. Someone please explain to me why I am so emotionally attached to all of these books…
Uh oh…the neighbors’ cat who sleeps on our deck furniture has now discovered our birdfeeders…might be time to take them down. 😬
My husband is from San Antonio & we’ve had friends from there visiting all weekend. Last night we were watching the Spurs game, & my poor cats have STILL not recovered from us all jumping up and screaming when Wemby hit this half court shot!
In case you ever wanted to know what a concert looks like to a short girl…
Unintended consequence of the Phillies’ City Connect uniforms: from a distance, it looks like there’s a whole team of Amazon drivers on the field.
Violet has been removed from the stovetop no fewer than three times in the past ten minutes. Look at the defiance in her eyes. I guess she wins.
