Birders of Bluesky: A broad-winged hawk moved into my yard and is VERY chatty. We spotted her last week and thought she was a red-shoulder, but I heard her call just now. Unmistakeably broad-winged!

Bosses are Captain and above, the rest are Lieutenants and Ensigns. Obviously I am careful not to wear red at work to avoid being downsized. Seems to be working.

My kids are watching Gravity Falls today. As a bell rang on the show, I realized that it's like Widow's Bay for the younger set.
It's wild to me that we in Northern New England have the highest storm risk in the country today! The sky here in my corner of Vermont is currently an ominous shade of orange from wildfire smoke pushed in ahead of the storms.

We watched the fireworks at Smuggler's Notch. Some kids gave my kids glow bracelets. It was a clear and cool evening in the Green Mountains. It was the perfect way to celebrate. Happy 250th, America!

We are a Disney family, and I'm raising 3rd Gen Disney fans. My 4th grader is currently obsessed with Michael Jackson, along with all of his classmates. Naturally, this means that I introduced him to Captain Eo tonight. It's a deep cut that I doubt his friends have seen or know exists.

This species is the smallest wild cat in Africa, but with the highest hunting success (~60%). They eat 1/6th their body weight in rodents & birds every night.
