Great article, finishing with this is quite well said. "The industry has shown nothing but contempt for narrative art that speaks to the human imagination—the very thing that’s keeping it alive.End of article"

"And the way to keep the ship floating is to keep peddling the vision and to seem more confident that the dream is inevitable the less it appears to be coming true." Man, it is always fun to see @brianphillips.bsky.social cook—and especially on this topic: www.theringer.com/2025/11/04/t...

How Catastrophic Is It If the AI Bubble Bursts? An FAQ.

The AI industry's most important product is not a chatbot or a video generator; it's the story the AI industry is telling about itself

theringer.com

When a chatbot gets something wrong, it’s not because it made an error. It’s because on that roll of the dice, it happened to string together a group of words that, when read by a human, represents something false. But it was working entirely as designed. It was supposed to make a sentence & it did.

Chatbots — LLMs — do not know facts and are not designed to be able to accurately answer factual questions. They are designed to find and mimic patterns of words, probabilistically. When they’re “right” it’s because correct things are often written down, so those patterns are frequent. That’s all.

Carney has put out another strongly worded finger-wagging for Israel with NO concrete action. Shocking to see our prime minister acknowledge Israel’s violation of international law but still not announce sanctions, a real two-way arms embargo, recognition of a Palestinian state….ANY actual action.

Mark Carney posts:

“Canada condemns the Israeli government's failure to prevent the rapidly deteriorating humanitarian disaster in Gaza.
Israel's control of aid distribution must be replaced by comprehensive provision of humanitarian assistance led by international organizations. Many of these are holding significant Canadian-funded aid which has been blocked from delivery to starving civilians. This denial of humanitarian aid is a violation of international law.
Canada calls on all sides to negotiate an immediate ceasefire in good faith. We reiterate our calls for Hamas to immediately release all the hostages, and for the Israeli government to respect the territorial integrity of the West Bank and Gaza.”Mark Carney’s post continues: “Canada supports a two-state solution which guarantees peace and security for Israelis and Palestinians. Canada will work intensively in all fora to further that end, including through the participation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs at the UN High-Level Conference on a Two-State Solution in New York next week.”

Worth a watch: Head of Signal, Meredith Whittaker, on so-called "agentic AI" and the difference between how it's described in the marketing and what access and control it would actually require to work as advertised.

Magic School isn't the only option. @hollyclarkedu.bsky.social does some good things around teaching students AI. I would check her resources. I'm personally more reserved about student use. This under regulated technology doesn't necessarily need to be shoved into student hands...
