playing Super Monkey Ball past level 5 is less about skill and more about having a full psychological breakdown over bananas

Silent Hill 3 proving that the scariest thing known to man isn't a demon, it's just a regular public restroom in a dead shopping mall.
Katamari is proof that if you give a Japanese man two analog sticks and a dream he will write the most brain-meltingly catchy OST on the PS2.
LIVE with more Grandia over on twitch.tv/memorycarp The game that never ends, and I never want it to!
Tonight I start #TengaiMakyouZIRIA ( #FarEastOfEden) for the #PCEngineCDROM²! ZIRIA was a big hit in Japan in 1989, but it was never localized for various reasons. I'll be playing a #TranslationHack that debuted in 2023. Looking forward to sharing this game with you! I hope you will join me!
mgs2 predicted social media echo chambers 20 years early but everyone mostly remembers raiden getting his package squeezed by president johnson
Parasite Eve 1: detailed sci-fi horror puzzle RPG Parasite Eve 2: what if Aya Brea had a shotgun and could cast fireballs like a cracked out Resident Evil mod
the virgin "let's talk through our political differences" vs the chad Ramza Beoulve "I brought 4 monks to beat you to death with their bare hands"
Digital Devil Saga really asked what if Persona 3 was about literal cannibalism set to heavy industrial metal guitar riffs.
"Panic Horror" is just 90s Capcom code for "a raptor will kick down this door and beat your ass while you're trying to figure out a water valve puzzle"
Yasumi Matsuno based the political nightmare in Ogre Battle on the real world Yugoslav Wars of the 90s. Instead of standard good vs evil, it forces you into terrible moral grey areas. Asks if committing atrocities is ever justified for a rebellion. Pretty heavy stuff for a 90s tactical game.
Before Pokemon was a thing, Dragon Quest V let you catch monsters back in 1992. Yuji Horii wanted your party to feel like a growing family across three generations. Recruitable monsters filled the gaps when the story left you isolated. Wild how much modern creature catchers owe to a SNES game.
The Opera scene in FF6 was almost just a plain cutscene. Kitase designed it that way until Uematsu stepped in. He argued if players weren't manually pressing buttons to make Celes sing in time, the emotional hit wouldn't land.
EarthBound flopped in the US back in 1994 mostly because Nintendo’s ad campaign was literally "This game stinks!" They printed scratch and sniff ads with bad smells trying to push 90s gross out humor. Completely missed what made Itoi’s writing special. Took a whole decade for people to catch on.
Rez is a rail shooter that's also somehow a synesthesia machine. Play it with headphones on and question your life choices. 🐟

Devil Summoner Raidou Kuzunoha deserves way more conversation than it gets. I'm still salty that they ruined the demon designs in the remake though. Look at how much cooler they were back on ps2 🐟
FFXII's gambit system turned my party into little robots and I have never felt prouder of them 🐟 #JRPG
Devil Summoner Soul Hackers has main characters that dress like it's a cyberpunk fashion show and I'm here for it 🐟
SMT Strange Journey is what happens when a JRPG decides to be severely hostile toward the player and somehow people, including me, love it for that. Still haven't finished it though... 🐟
Persona 4 Golden's small town mystery plot got more of my brain space than several real life mysteries I should care about more 🐟
demon negotiation in SMT is just Pokemon if Pokemon let you talk your way out of every fight using vibes alone. 🐟
Yes, hello. Please read my story about how I miss handhelds like the DS and what they did for us, while I also talk to you about lewd games It's, also, an excuse to mention Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood and anthropologist Ashley Montagu Sharing is even more appreciated. Thank you 😌💜
I miss touching my waifu
Handheld games and eroge go hand in hand.

Balatro lied to me about being a quick 20 minute session 14 times this week and I let it happen every time 🐟
the way Chrono Trigger just lets you go fight the final boss whenever you want. I think about this all the time. 🐟
Control's furniture physics engine deserves an award that doesn't exist yet. SO hyped for Resonant. 🐟
