A cold front finally moves through today, but with only an isolated afternoon shower. It'll remain hot (95° high) under partly cloudy skies as wind shifts to the north. Watch for patchy fog early this morning. Skies should be clear for tonight's lunar eclipse!

9pm - Storms are heading south of the metro, with quiet conditions expected overnight. A cold front will arrive tomorrow afternoon, but only isolated afternoon showers are expected. Outside of those areas, tomorrow is looking to be quite warm and sunny, and humid in the morning. /CS

Strong to severe thunderstorms are currently moving southeast from the Little Rock area, with more storms to the south of Memphis in the Mississippi Delta. While these storms are heavy, they are not expected to move over Memphis, other than possibly a shower this evening. /CS

A warm day took place across the metro today, with trace rainfall recorded in Memphis and Bartlett in the early morning hours. Temperatures topped out in the lower 90s after starting in the upper 70s, and clouds filled the skies periodically, and will continue overnight. /CS

6:00pm Storms in central AR are moving southeast and additional storms are developing in the Delta, but these will miss the vast majority of the metro north of Tate/Tunica Co. Can't rule out a few evening showers locally, but storms should remain SW of the city.

4:40pm We're all-clear as we head into rush hour, and with any luck it'll stay that way. Storms in AR are beefy, but should stay over there. Any attempt to move towards the river will be met with unwelcome, more stable air. Can't rule out a t'storm locally, but I'm optimistic.

Some good news for this evening... the outflow that moved through earlier has stabilized the atmosphere over west TN a bit and the Level 2 severe storm risk has been lowered to level 1. Not out of the woods, but better! Keeping an eye on north-central AR storms now.

2:00pm As an earlier outflow drops into north MS, scattered storms are firing ahead of it, leaving the immediate metro dry. A Level 2 (Slight) risk of severe weather remains in place as additional scattered storms are expected through the evening. Wind gusts are the main threat.

12:45pm Our outflow boundary is now south of I-40 and dropping towards north MS, bringing a cooling breeze but triggering a few showers. Latest data suggests scattered storms with a few strong wind gusts are still possible, most likely during the evening hours.

11:00am As the outflow from storms to our north drops through Tipton and towards Shelby/Fayette Co, isolated showers have formed in the humid air. No lightning now, can't rule it out. Small downpours mainly. Keep the umbrella handy. Best chance of storms is this evening.

10:00am Storms in SEMO and NW TN diving southeast are likely to miss the metro to the NE. However, an outflow boundary is dropping south towards Tipton Co and the metro. Remains to be seen if storms can fire on it, but a few are possible. Severe threat very low this morning.

9:15am Here's the latest info on today's storm potential. Confidence in timing of storms is lower than we'd like. AM storms to our north may affect us midday-ish. More likely: scattered storms with strong wind gusts late afternoon/evening. Please stay in touch with good sources!

Radar is dry at sunrise with temps in the upper 70s. A chance of showers or a t'storm exists this morning, but is more likely to hold off until later today. Highs in the mid 90s will fuel scattered, possibly strong, storms through the evening hours. Secure outdoor objects.

It’ll be partly cloudy and mild tonight with lows in the mid 70s. Showers become possible near sunrise, with t'storms chances into the AM. A break is expected in the afternoon before more t'storms return in the evening and overnight. A SLT risk is in place for gusty winds. /AO

Today was a beautiful, hot summer day across the metro. Conditions stayed dry with partly cloudy skies throughout the day. Highs reached the mid 90s, several degrees above average, but lower humidity and a light SW breeze kept things manageable. /AO
