Scran! Once again, a veritable feast of flavour and texture. Totally and utterly recommended. At the wonderful Miso in the Quayside, Newcastle.
Wine! Sabina Viura Blanco via Navarra Obviously not the sensible thing to do at this point, but who’s into sensible? Scran will follow.
Bottle! Cantillon - Kriek 6.0% 100% Lambic Bio. Absolute lip smacking classic. One of the greatest beers in the world.
Pint! Left Handed Giant - Pink Lemonade Radler 2.5% Still pop and still perfect for a sunny day’s drinking in the beer garden 😎 @thefreetradeinn.bsky.social
Cocktails! Negroni for me and a Gimlet for Gill. Not sure what recipe they used but they taste fine. In Fire, Newcastle.
Pint! Sureshot - The Procedure will be Parliamentary 4.0% Hazy pale ale. Nicely balanced brew with a soft mouthfeel. Some soft citrus pithiness with a balancing sweetness. At the Wobbly Duck, Newcastle.
Half! Pastore - Semifreddo 4.0% Cherry, Plum, Amoretti Sour. Tastebud tingler in the style of a liquid Haribo Tangfastic. Quite a decent amount of fruit in this too. Jolly nice whilst waiting for Gillian to get her hair done. In the Wobbly Duck, Newcastle.
Half! Left Handed Giant - Pink Lemonade Radler 2.5% Pop, I tell you it is pop. But, obviously, don’t serve it to kids. Perfect summer drinking juice! @thefreetradeinn.bsky.social #Bskybeer
Half! Newbarns - Best 4.4% Lovely brown ale which has the perfect balance of bitterness and smoothness. Top beer. No photo because I forgot. So sue me. @thefreetradeinn.bsky.social #Bskybeer
Half! Donzoko - Smog 4.7% Hazy pale ale from one of the greatest local breweries. Very easy drinking with hints of citrus and pineapple. Shame about the plastic receptacle, but it is rammed in here. @thefreetradeinn.bsky.social #Bskybeer
Half! Kernel - 4C 6.6% India Pale Ale which is citrus, pithy and quite full mouthed. Generally another fine beer from Kernel. One of those breweries it is hard to go wrong with. @thefreetradeinn.bsky.social #Bskybeer
Half! Queer Brewing - Hot Girl Summer 4.5% Peach, passion fruit & guava sour. Very fruit juicy with a bit of sourness to counteract the sweetness. Quite nice all told. @thefreetradeinn.bsky.social #Bskybeer
Pint! Kernel - Pils Saphir 4.8% Cloudy Pils? Too hop forward for pils to me. However, I am thoroughly enjoying this nonetheless. Gill is on the gin & tonic. Botanist for those interested. @thefreetradeinn.bsky.social #Bskybeer
And another post #drinkthegradient bottle. This time one from the vaults. Green Flash - Natura Morta Cherry 2015 6.5%. Aged in oak casks etc. Perhaps a little past its best but still banging. #Bskybeer @dad2dam2dum2mum.bsky.social @pauljwhite.eurosky.social
Bonus beer post #drinkthegradient. Rodenbach - Evolved Caractere Raspberry and Mango 7.2% Beautifully balanced. The raspberry takes the lead with the mango offering a soft mouthfeel. One of the best beers of the day. #Bskybeer @dad2dam2dum2mum.bsky.social @pauljwhite.eurosky.social
Beer 5 Vault City - Tropical Sour 7.0% abv. Not really matched with the Alpe d’Huez as it is uncategorised but worth drinking it. Mandarin, Mango & Passionfruit sour, which is basically Mango juice with a neutral alcohol of your choice added. #drinkthegrsdient #Bskybeer
Beer 4 Trappistes Rochefort - 6 at 7.5% abv. Matched with Col de Sarenne at 7.3% ave gradient. A classic banger for the final categorised climb of the stage. Malty, bready goodness. #drinkthegradient #Bskybeer @dad2dam2dum2mum.bsky.social @pauljwhite.eurosky.social
Beer 3 Thornbridge - Cocoa Wonderland 6.8% Chocolate Porter. Matched with Col du Galibier at 6.9% ave gradient. Come on, the mountain even has beer in its name! Smooth with a milk chocolate sweetness. #drinkthegradient #Bskybeer @dad2dam2dum2mum.bsky.social @pauljwhite.eurosky.social
Beer 2 Omnipollo 05:45 Breakfast 7.0% Maple Muffin Coffee Porter. Matched with Col Du Télégraphe at 7.1% ave gradient. Absolutely as mad and chewy as it sounds. More bitterness than sweetness. #drinkthegradient #Bskybeer @dad2dam2dum2mum.bsky.social @pauljwhite.eurosky.social
Beer1 Weekend Project - Physic Garden 5.3% DDH Pale Ale. Matched with Col de la Croix de Fer at 5.2% ave gradient. Nice easy start to the day #drinkthegradient #Bskbeer with @dad2dam2dum2mum.bsky.social @pauljwhite.eurosky.social
These are the brave souls helping me today. Last minute substitute for the Alpe after an exploding can incident earlier #drinkthegradient #Bskybeer
The annual madness is upon us. Tomorrow I will be drinking all these beers during the stage of #letour #TourDeFrance matching the ABV of the beer with the gradient of the mountain. 🇫🇷 Lord help us! 😂 #drinkthegradient
