🐘 check out our newest paper from Liang Bua! www.science.org/doi/10.1126/... Did H. floresiensis hunt Stegodon? 🔪 Did they also had control use of fire? 🔥 We tested these early claims of complex behavior using taphonomy, experimental archaeology, and zooarchaeology of the Stegodon assemblage.

Hey Hey, a few weeks ago, we released quicksand version v2.6 github.com/mpieva/quick... This version allows the `--taxlvl g` flag to obtain summary statistics and output-files on the genus level. Especially for multi-genus families (e.g. Bovidae or Cervidae), this is much more informative 🐂

Our institute @mpi-eva-leipzig.bsky.social starting a new Masters program with the University of Leipzig. If you are a bachelors student graduating soon, and would like to get involved with our research during you MSc, consider applying :) www.uni-leipzig.de/en/studying/...
Evolutionary Anthropology MSc
The programme aims to provide in-depth knowledge of the latest research into human evolution and development. The focus is on the genetic, paleoanthropological and cognitive aspects of human behaviour and the mind. Particular emphasis is placed on engaging with the complexities of research processes, and on developing skills in designing, implementing and evaluating studies. Students will gain professional expertise in handling and rigorously analysing and effectively presenting data, preparing them for doctoral research.

Vienna Doctoral School of Ecology and Evolution
The Vienna Doctoral School of Ecology and Evolution is dedicated to educating students to advance our understanding of the ecology and evolution of extant and ancestral organisms, populations, and communities. In Ecology, the focus is on uncovering the mechanistic and evolutionary drivers of patterns and processes across biological scales, from gene regulation to ecosystem structure and function, including the role of communities in biogeochemical cycles and their adaptive responses to environmental change. In Evolution, we investigate the processes shaping changes in organization and dynamics of organisms, populations, and species at molecular, developmental, morphological, and physiological levels.
