If art is your hobby and you do it as a job, you need to accept that there will be times (sometimes years) where you lose that hobby. I think it's really unfair that monetizing art is so often framed as "you'll never work a day in your life" and not "you might lose something very important to you"

Artists - just cause you CAN monetize your work doesn't mean you should. There is NOTHING wrong with just doing art as a hobby. I miss it actually. When my art became my main source of income, my relationship with my work changed forever (and often feels way less creative than it used to be).

every time i get bummed looking at cool artstyles i admire and think mine inferior to, i try to keep in mind that only i can draw the way i do and its unique in ways i myself dont see since im so used to looking at it. thought this might help and serve as a little pick me up for someone else too

I once worked on a visual novel game where all the surveys and focus groups said that nobody wanted romance, they only wanted mystery and sci-fi. Then 75+% of clicks in-game went to stories with explicit romantic or sexy themes. www.pcgamer.com/gaming-indus...
