Hello! I'm a professional plushie prototyper for Fangamer. I sometimes sell plushies on https://www.etsy.com/shop/Metroidhat. My website is www.metroidhat.com, where you can see a gallery of my past works. She/Her

I felt like making a cute bucket hat. So I did! It's got Earthbound embroidery on the side, and it's reversible to reveal some dragon fabric from Japan. The denim parts are cut from some old jeans and the brim features stripy piping. I'm ready for the sun~

Five photos showing off a bucket hat I made. The top photos show the hat on a mannequin head, while the bottom ones have me wearing it in a park setting. The middle image shows my initial sketch, which turned out very close to the final product. The hat has orange and red stripes with an embroidered Mr. Saturn, Ramblin Evil Mushroom, and Mobile Sprout marching along. The reverse side of the hat has a pattern of dragons against a red background. Parts of the hat are made with blue denim, which I cut out of old jeans.

Harvest day! Here's today's haul, and some glam shots of my garden. This pic really doesn't convey the scale of the produce; that broccoli is about the size of my head. More descriptions in the alts.

Yellow pattypan zucchini, a huge honkin' head of broccoli, like 20 Russian Red garlics freshly dug up and ready to be cured, all framed by a bunch of California poppies. I've never been so successful with broccoli before! And this is my first time growing pattypans, which have turned out quite tender and tasty. I was worried about my garlic, because another variety that I grew ended up kinda small, but the Russians are ever robust and reliable. I haven't had to buy garlic in years.A pic of a portion of my garden. Several garden boxes are resplendent with growth. Well, the garlic plot is half harvested. Another one is jam packed with sunflowers, peas, squash, and corn. Perhaps I overdid it this year; it seems like the corn is suffering from the proximity to the robust sunflowers. Though you can't see it very well, the hind boxes have brussel sprouts, cabbage, strawberry, and asparagus plants.Another sector of my garden. Here we've got beets, more squash, zucchini, edamame, potatoes, broccoli, carrots, and onions.

30 years ago, lil' Eyes5 wanted to make a comic book and drew inspiration from a 2 page featurette in Nintendo Power about Dragon Hopper, a VB game that never got released. Didn't matter; she spent the next 4 years making a 28 chapter, 280 page epic where she imagined what would happen in the game!

Dragon Hopper's 2 page spread from Nintendo Power 86, 1996. It was the only info I ever saw on the Virtual Boy game before it was quietly cancelled. And now, in 2026, the game has finally been released on Nintendo Switch Online!A page from my 'Dragon Wings' comic, drawn on a little square of 7x9 cm paper that I cut out. Every chapter had 10 pages stapled together. This page shows Narlo, the protagonist, opening a chest containing whip, x3 candy, knowlage ring, leather headband, and faerie in a jar. I was ripping off Secret of Mana left and right, and I wanted to make the comic evoke the item management systems of RPGs. Items are collected and used, and equipment is reflected in what characters wear.Another page of 'Dragon Wings', this one showing a map of the world. It sure as heck was ripped right out of the Dragon Hopper map shown in Nintendo Power! The final page of 'Dragon Wings'! Narlo, with his friends Rego, Slurpee, and Bino, collected all the faeries, retrieved the fabled Dragon Wings, defeated the dreaded Sartono, and finally reunited with his fiancé Mego!

I got Metroid ice cube trays for Christmas! Though instead of ice cubes, I learned to work with chocolate and NOW I'M MORE POWERFUL THAN I COULD HAVE EVER IMAGINED HAHAHA

Chocolates in the shape of Metroids on a plate. The body is brown milk chocolate with the nuclei and fangs being milk chocolate.Metroid chocolates on a plate and in a box, with the emptied silicone molds.Metroid chocolates. Some on a plate, some still in the molds.Metroid chocolates as they're being made. Peanut butter filling is in some of them. Bowls with filling and melted chocolate and other ingredients are scattered on a table.

I carved some Metroid stamps~ I wanna stamp some fabric, though I'm not sure what I'm gonna make out of that fabric. Any ideas?! I'll also try a few paper printing experiments~

A photo of a ink pad, linocutters, and 4 stamps hand-carved from pink rubbery printing block material. There's also a paper showing test prints of the stamps. They are my Metroidhat logo, the Super Metroid S symbol, a Metroid, and Samus's helmet, with her angry eyes showing through. I use this test print to see what areas still need to be carved. There's often little raised areas that I miss on the stamps, and now I can see them easier and carve them away.A picture of some Metroid stamps before they're carved, plus the stamp design that's been printed on paper. My process is this: first I draw the design on Clipstudio, then I inverse the image and print it out on a laserjet printer. The ink becomes sticky when heated, which makes it perfect for transferring onto the rubbery printing block using an iron (though I risk deforming the block). What is left is a transfer of black ink on the pink printing block. All I have to do is carve out the black parts to get the image I want.

Although I lost my save file (save your game in a separate slot before the endgame, folks!), I had a lot of fun with Metroid Prime 4! I'll play it again soon and get 100%! But for now, I'm channeling my leftover energy into making some spoiler-free, low-effort Metroid comics.

A 3 panel comic. In panel 1: Samus, on her motorbike, buzzes past a green energy crystal, thinking "whoops"

Panel 2: She swerves to try to hit the shining gem, but misses. She thinks "C'mon..."

Panel 3: Samus is driving donuts, yelling "Why can't I hit this rock?!" The crystal is in the middle, unmoved, untouched, moisturized.A 3 panel comic. Panel 1: A Lamorn (an alien creature with gills like an axolotl and 4 arms) says to Samus "Chosen One... To navigate our world, you must open your third eye..."

Panel 2: The Lamorn plucks a googly eye sticker from a sticker sheet.

Panel 3: The Lamorn sticks it on Samus's forehead, with a 'boop!' sound effect.Panel 1: A Galactic Federation soldier says to Samus "Samus! I'm a big fan!"

Panel 2: With sparkles over their head, they say "I even have your trading card!" They hand Samus a card that has a picture of her on it, Justin Bailey style, with green hair and a magenta onesie that leaves little to the imagination.

Panel 3: Samus stares wordlessly at the card...

Panel 4: She thinks "Who am I gonna hafta sue...?"Panel 1: Samus in her blue/yellow/magenta fusion suit, fighting off some yellow X parasites. The text says "This is Metroid Fusion"

Panel 2: Adam Malkovich in his blue and white general's uniform, lifting a struggling Samus up by the scruff. The text says "This is also Metroid Fusion"

Panel 3: Samus in her green Metroid suit, biting Raven Beak's head. The text says "This is also Metroid Fusion"

Panel 4: Sylux placing a Metroid on a Space Pirate's head, who is sweating. The text says "This is also Metroid Fusion"

Okay, so I'm gonna overexplain this joke! Panel 1 depicts the setting of Metroid Fusion, but Panel 3 and 4 depicts Metroid Dread and Metroid Prime 4. Dread, like Fusion, Samus becoming more Metroid-like in her DNA. And in Prime 4, Metroids are literally fusing with creatures to make them crazy or whatever. Panel 2, which depicts Metroid Other M, has many similarities to Metroid Fusion the game, although no Metroids are fused with anything. There's many story beats, tropes, and characters in Other M that are lifted right out of Fusion. Hence, some people describe Other M as 3D Fusion.

Sooooo, if you're at the Prime 4 endgame, be very careful about your save. Ideally, copy over your save file. I made a mistake and I basically lost my data.

I made a sweet little Emul plushie for a present. I love the fluffy accents in her ears, tail, cheeks, and chest! It's been a long time since I made a plushie that I didn't have to worry about replicating, so I took a lot of shortcuts and used a lot of hand sewing, which I don't normally do.

Four photos of a little hand-made Emul plushie, from Shangri-La Frontier. She's a bunny that wears a tophat, blue suit jacket, and red tunic. The jacket is removable, and I think she looks very cute without it too. One view has her face-down on the ground so you can see her fluffy tail.

The Lace plushie I prototyped is finally available! Would you believe that she's been sitting on my desk for five years?? She went through at least 5 iterations. Please enjoy these pics of some of those older prototypes, plus a pic of all the patterns I went through. More descriptions in the alts.

4 pictures of my final Lace plushie prototype from different angles. She's wired, so I put her in a number of sassy poses.I picture of my first Lace prototype, posed as if she's doing a musical number in "Singing in the Rain". Something I really tried to achieve was crazy flexibility in the legs, as she's pretty much doing the splits in some of her sprites. This meant that her legs needed to be separated all the way up to her hips in order to do those high kicks. In the end, her high-riding pantaloons were sacrificed in favor of badonky pumpkin pants, which only allowed her to do little kicks at the knees. A picture of two Lace prototypes, face to face, comparing their various features. I believe the left one is a newer iteration. The feedback I kept getting when it comes to Lace's head and butt was "bigger.... Bigger... BIGGER!!" A picture of all the pattern pieces used in making of all the Lace prototypes I went through. The final pattern is in the upper right corner. I keep all my working patterns until the plushie is declared finished, in case I need to go back to a previous iteration.

Our final day of Black Friday launches begins with our first wave of Silksong merch. Introducing the Intrepid Pursuer shirt, the Pharloom's Champion poster, and the Lace plush: www.fangamer.com/collections/...

Are y'all watching the Undertale 10th anniversary stream? undertale.com/10/ I made the big Toriel up for donation! It is basically a bigger version of the small Toriel plushie available for sale from Fangamer. You can win her if you donate a bunch!

A frontal picture of the big Toriel plushie I made. Her emblem isn't entirely embroidered because it's too big for my embroidery machine, so the white outline is sewn in.A side view of my big Toriel plushie. She was very huggable. A bottom view of the big Toriel plushie, showing her bare bottom. I proposed making bloomers for her at first, but that idea was shot down.

The Monster Kid plushie is adapted from a plush I made for a personal project. One interesting change is that we used knit instead of sewing fleece together to form stripes. I'm not familiar with the limitations of knit production, so it required some compromises and experimentation to make it work.

My original Monster Kid plushie, sitting in the snow. There's a lot of differences from the official plushie. They're bigger, they have a fleece shirt, their legs are yellow, and their facial features are all hand embroidered and hand appliqued. My Monster Kid plushie prototype before they have their features sewn in. I used pins and paper to position where their mouth, eyes, and nostrils should go.A picture of five curved strips of fabric. When sewn together, they form the stripes on Monster Kid's shirt, which is basically a cone.A drawing for the manufacturers, showing them potential options for Monster Kid's shirt pattern. As it turns out, stripes on manufactured knit can only be formed in straight lines, so we can't form the conical shape with stripes that would best suit Monster Kid's armless body. As a compromise, we made the shirt pattern into two pieces and put seams on the sides.

I claim partial responsibility for Fangamer's latest travesty. Trucy's Magic """Bag""" is a shorts pattern in essence. Here are some of my prototype pictures and factory instructions.

A picture of my """bag""" prototype dangling by the cinched up drawstring. Instead of the printed stripes and appliqued hearts of the real article, this prototype has a plain blue fabric body. Lace was used at the bottoms instead of ruffled minky. Sure looks scrotal, doesn't it.Here's some early drawn concepts for the factory to follow. They outline a lot of the specifics that go into the """bag"""'s construction. Like what parts should be printed or appliqued, what materials to use, and how the drawstring is to behave. When we moved away from a lace bottom, I made a ruffled edge sample to show how it can be done.

The Corrupted Storch plushie from Signalis is available at Fangamer! Despite how simple it looks, it has a deceptively complicated construction. That's because the stripes are actually cones, with each strip of fabric curved slightly differently in order to achieve a soft tapered candy-corn shape.

Four pictures of my Storch plushie prototype. Imagine if you will... a hunched potato body with a tapering, striped carrot head and stumpy striped legs. And it's in light green, pink, and orange candy colors. Because this is a prototype meant to show construction, it doesn't have to be game accurate and I can use whatever colors I want!

Here's the Broken Vessel prototype, from the Hollow Knight game. This plushie presented unique balancing and asymmetry challenges, as I wanted to preserve their hunched, sickly in-game posture. The second picture includes an even earlier prototype, when they had a more tentacle-like body.

Four pictures of the Broken Vessel character plushie. They are a hunched-over jar-headed bug with a cape, curved horns, and a huge bulbous mass of orange infection growing out their head. They have weighted pellets in their body and legs sticking straight out, which greatly help them from tipping over. The earlier version of Broken Vessel is pictured alongside the final prototype for comparison. Instead of a body and cape, their body is simply a kinda stump from which leg-tentacles extrude. Originally, I was instructed to make their body like the Shade plushie, just with more tentacles. I suppose the idea was that it simplified BV's body, so we didn't have to make the whole complicated body and cape. Well, sometimes it's best to do things without any shortcuts. So I went rogue, design-wise, and made the body and cape without further oversight and was like "Here! What do you think??"

Once upon a time, I prototyped these Hollow Knight backpack clings. Fangamer still sells them, but we haven't made any more plushies of this size. That's because, even though they're much smaller, they're not proportionally cheaper or easier to produce than a full sized plushie.

Four small plushies from the Hollow Knight series: Wanderer Knight, Grub, Hornet, and Myla. These small plushies are 3.5-4 inches high and have loops of cord for hanging off a backpack.

Here's a series of Pokemon plushies I made oh... 14 years ago! They're one of a kind and feature a lot of fun elements, like polymer sculpted eyes, internal wires, and real feathers.

An Articuno plushie photographed at several different angles. The main body and legs are suede, while the head and tail feathers are blue satin to give them some luster. The chest has a real feather ruff. The eyes, beak, and claws are sculpted and painted. Wire runs through all the limbs and the tail for maximum posing. I still remember some of the techniques I learned from making this birdy, like how to achieve a flat object that has wires running through it. Mamoswine plushie seen from a few different angles. The eyes are sculpted and painted. I was very pleased with the snout; how all the fabrics came together perfectly and the little bit of thread sculpting in the nostrils really brought out the dimension of the nose. I remember being somewhat unhappy with the feet fuzz, because I have a general distaste for leaving raw edges showing. But it worked well here.A Misdreavus plushie seen from four angles. I was so happy with the pattern I created here, at how curvy the shapes are and how balanced the whole plushie is. I mostly used crushed panne, which gives the plushie a mottled sparkle. I found a perfect set of beads in a craft store that was used for the necklace. The eyes and mouth was hand-appliqued fleece plus some needle felting.A Crobat plushie seen from the front and back. The eyes were sculpted and wire runs through the wings. The body was mostly fleece, with the webbing of the wings being suede.

I prototyped the official Astrobot plushie from Fangamer! That was about two years ago; more recently, I had heavy involvement with the Kratos version of Astrobot. I didn't prototype this new version, but I oversaw the turnaround art and the sampling process.

My prototype Astrobot plushie from four different angles. The more subtle the shapes, the more difficult they are to achieve in plushie form. Like, the head isn't just a 'circle', and the body isn't just an 'oval', so they required a lot of care. I'm very pleased with my choice of eye fabric, in which the individual sparkles are reminiscent of pixilation. Here's a construction document that I sent to the factory. It shows a piece of blue organza on a marble slab and a soldering iron. I used the soldering iron to cut and seal the edges of the organza, and I'm asking the factory if they are able to do something similar. It turns out that they were not able to do it; they ended up embroidering the edges of the cape. I also instructed them to cut the organza on the diagonal. This detail got missed, which resulted in weak capes for the first run of Astrobot, but it has since been corrected. Here's a construction document for AstroKratos. It's my drawing of all their clothes and how they should be constructed and layered.
