Bought myself a physical Limited Collectors Edition of "Enemy Territory: Quake Wars". A spiritual successor to "Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory" and prequel to Quake II. It should've been a big release and a lot more popular. But me and friends were on Xbox360 and Halo 3 released around the same time.

I have noticed it's hard for me to get excited for new game releases. Either a game has to give me something fresh, do something really well or mix very specific ingredients. Interesting then how the two upcoming game releases I currently have most interest in are both Star Wars games.

"Duke Caribbean - Life's a Beach" is probably still my favorite special themed expansion for a video game. Besides summer vacation vibe levels enemies are dressed up and weapons are replaced with water pistols and coconut launchers. Playing it always brings me back to childhood summer vibes.

HERBY for Commodore 64 was sort of an early Backrooms or "Cube" experience. One of the first videogames I played. A giant abstract maze where u couldn't touch anything. A creepy rhythmic sound atmosphere, odd entities and marching killer rectangles. I also found an exploit that made it more creepy.

I want a Criterion Closet video series but for video games. Maybe the " @gog.com collection closet "? Where we see big names from the gaming industry, Stand in a big library of (physical) games and pick favorites or interesting ones to chat about.

My tiny fan game project has reached a major milestone. Officially stopped adding stuff, it's done! Content complete and bug list is empty (for now). Hunting for rare bugs now. Now for a trailer and "back of the box" screenshots.

I always liked the art style of Heretic. It's very colorful and "clean". It didn't try to use photographed textures like Doom, but all hand drawn pixel art with a lot of contrast and color. Very Saturday morning cartoon, but a bit more violent.

Watched "Masters of the Universe". It's a love letter to 80's action fantasy movies. It embraces the source material with it's larger than life characters. It knows that it's a bit silly but doesn't forget to be awesome with fun fight scenes and honest sense of humor. Jared Leto did fine! Seriously.

Just watched "Bring her back"(2025). Some genuinely amazing child actor performances. It does echo some horror film elements I've seen before in similar "residential horror" movies. And can we PLEASE STOP people slipping and tripping? It's such a cheap horror cliché, it really pissed me off in this.

Finished DOOM's "Legacy of Rust" campaign by Machine Games. Concluding my journey to finish all official campaigns on Ultra Violence. A crazy two-part campaign to finish it with. New enemies, new weapons and beautiful levels with some challenges and secrets that tested me a LOT, but so well done!

Finished the final season of "The Boys". Quite a letdown. It felt rushed and was a constant repeat of encounters and no destructive grand final it was always hinting at. Every other line of dialog included something gross or sexual. It was overkill. Watched it to finish it, but I didn't enjoy it.

Holy dev scare! I had stupidly marked a few interface objects as "global". Which means if you change it in one of the frames, it'll affect all of them. After making the tutorial, I noticed the main game dialog was all replaced with tutorial dialog. ALL dialog gone. Thank Zeus for backups! pffffffff.

Now I'm hungry for more mythical larger than life movies in lands with giants and witches, but with the authentic and disturbingly haunting atmosphere and soundscape that Nolan brought to it. Less Marvel CGI cartoons.

I've been thinking. If there is one segment in The Oddysey I would've changed it's the Laestrygonians. I would like to know more about the motivation for the choices Nolan made for it. But I would've let them stumble upon them in a different way and without any armor. Because they don't need it.

Watched "The Backrooms". I liked it, Kane Parsons really made it work. It attaches character stories to Kane's material. But these are amplified and not an answer to the overall mystery. Which is good because I hate pretentious horror where the "scary thing" turns out to be a metaphor and not real.

I won't be surprised if we get more gritty versions of Greek Mythology (horror) games in the coming years. navigating a dark cave with a giant wandering Cyclops, trying to be stealthy? I'm sure The Odyssey will inspire some developers.
