Today marks 3⃣9⃣ years since the Chornobyl nuclear disaster. Yet the threat to nuclear safety has not passed. Russia’s illegal seizure of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant endangers millions in Ukraine and across Europe. This cannot be ignored.

Today Russia struck a residential area in Kryvyi Rih, killing at least 14 people, incl six children, injuring more than 50 others. Russia seeks war, not peace & the attacks against civilians, incl children are brutal proof of it. My condolences to the loved ones of the victims.

The ICC is a cornerstone of justice and accountability, essential for maintaining a rules-based global order. Hungary's decision to withdraw from the Rome Statute is deeply concerning. We strongly urge Hungary to rethink this step for the betterment of international justice.

In Stockholm today, Estonian Perm. Rep. Aino Lepik von Wirén & Director of Intl. Orgs & Human Rights, Rasmus Lumi, joined the NB8 @coe.int consultations. Key focus: strengthening Council of Europe's role in tackling current geopolitical and global challenges.

I had the pleasure of meeting 🇰🇷 Vice FM Kim Hong-Kyun today in Tallinn where the Korean Embassy was opened. 🇪🇪 & 🇰🇷 are united by common values & principles. We discussed perspectives of stepping up cooperation & the shared security challenges we face.

Estonia is deeply concerned about the escalation of conflict in Gaza, resulting in the tragic loss of innocent lives. We call on resuming negotiations aimed at safe return of all hostages, providing lasting peace & security.

Today, EU extended sanctions against 2⃣4⃣0⃣0⃣ individuals who undermine Ukraine’s territorial integrity & sovereignty. Hungary’s once again showed its true colours- its actions led to the removal of three oligarchs from the list, undermining core European security interests.

I welcome news from Ukraine & US talks in Jeddah, incl a proposal for interim ceasefire & US decision to resume military assistance, intelligence sharing with Ukraine. It’s an important step towards a just & lasting peace in Ukraine. The responsibility rests solely on Russia.

The political agreement on the 16th sanctions package for Russia is very much welcome. Russia has and continues to channel its resources towards annihilating #Ukraine. As long as Russia has not changed its course, the #EU will continue to raise the cost of war for it.

In a joint letter 12 likeminded countries, including Estonia call on #G7 to take additional steps to reduce Russia's revenues from selling its energy carriers. 1/3 of Russia’s revenues & 2/3 of its exports are linked to energy carriers. With these revenues Russia funds its aggression in #Ukraine.
