The industry has been chaotic lately with layoffs everywhere. My wife was laid off 6mo ago. It’s been 1.5yrs since the entire Red Team got cut from my corp job. It means something surreal: the weird project I started in my garage is now supporting our entire family.

I just found this little solar robot bug I made 20 years ago. It captures many qualities: - Art & Design Constraint - electrical hacks, using components “the wrong way” - extreme minimalism for max results Also, something interesting changed while it sat for 20 years! Let me explain… (🧵)

Ok, this thing is pretty cool. Embedded Linux with 2.4ghz, 5ghz, & 6ghz radios. Easily replaceable battery. And most importantly, it feels solid in your hands. Well done Hak5 crew! Wifi Pineapple Pager is going to become a favorite for a lot of people when the preorders start shipping.

Every time I travel, I let people charge their devices. Totally harmless. They never know who I am or what I normally do with USB cables, but maybe one day… 😂 This lady’s phone died a few min into a 5hr flight. I just wanted her to enjoy her time.

Are you seeing posts about how the “real” factories in China are selling the products for cheap in response to the trade war / tariffs? That’s all fake. It’s mostly old videos that knockoff shops were making. Likely being pushed now to get in before $800 De Minimis exemption goes away + disinfo.

Tariff exemptions just dropped for smartphones, computers, etc. Xi doing the “we aren’t going to bother going past 125%, it’s pointless. this is now a joke” followed immediately by Trump stepping backward by removing tariffs from a big chunk of imports. The next week is gonna be real interesting…

You might not like it, but this is what peak USA manufacturing looks like! (I was in the middle of live streaming firmware flashing & panel breaking of some PCBs. But then the house lizard decided to run through the middle of everything.)

If you think this is a lot of cables, you should see the list of things that cannot stop me.

A batch of PCBs for OMG Cables getting individually tested & graded. This is one of many steps where the results get saved into the cable’s storage. More on that later, but it lets me know the exact life of a cable across its entire creation process and ensure no steps are skipped.

And with a little work on the power steering, this car now has “self driving” performance quite a bit better than Tesla’s Autopilot. It’s similar to FSD from 2020. Never have to recharge it either 😎 This was a fun little project. I’m looking forward to using it on road trips.

Robert De Niro on a Netflix show (Zero Day) mentioning the O.MG Cable! 😎 Shoutout to whoever did the text, you got the silent punctuation perfectly.

Before making the OMG Cable, I was making malicious thumb drives… with a little extra 💥

Early access to ShawnRyanShow for his patrons. Otherwise, it’s coming soon to the public! I promised to start trying new things this year, and this was a huge one!

Some personal news: I’ll be pausing my Corp Red Team work starting now & focusing on projects under the OMG/MischiefGadgets umbrella.

Just spent the afternoon with Jon Bruner of Lumafield talking about manufacturing & hardware security. We have a fun video or two coming!

Here is another sneak peak while I work on building a proper video. If you purchased an OMG Cable, you’ve held one of these. Notice anything hiding?

Yeah, I’m still here. Haven’t had time or energy to learn a new platform. But I have plans to experiment soon.
