Photograph of the interior of the vaulted ceiling of Musée d'Orsay, on the Left Bank of the River Seine in Paris, France. The building is a former train station in the Beaux-Arts style, built between 1898 and 1900. The museum holds a variety of paintings, sculptures, furniture and photographs, concentrating on French art of the late 1800's to early 1900's. Unlike the massive Louvre just across the Seine, the d'Orsay can be viewed in hours, not days, making it a perfect stop for a morning or afternoon. This image was made in February 2016.

Photograph of the Gateway Arch in St. Louis, MO USA. This image was made in 2015 during a major ground renovation project that had temporarily removed much of the landscaping around the base. As a St. Louis native, I watched the Arch being built in the 1960's, and like many people who only visit their local monuments when they have guests in town, I have only been up in it twice!

Photograph of the Old Sheldon Church Ruins in Yemassee, South Carolina. Photographed in infrared and processed to black and white. Originally called the Prince William's Parish Church, it was built between 1745 and 1753, burned in 1779, rebuilt in 1826, burned again in 1865. The grounds of this popular site are filled with old live oaks, and the ruins have been fenced in recent years to try to minimize human damage.
