What I think people closer to the marketing industry could see very early that is now becoming painfully clear to everyone is that OpenAI and Anthropic are less tech companies than they are PR/comms/lobbying companies that happen to own a tech product. This is classic spin covering a bad product:

“What we need to explain to the world: Number one, we are close to creating a genie that can grant any wish. Number two, we are going to make sure that our first wishes broadly benefit humanity” - Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI — This is definitely the opposite of Anthropic’s AI kills all jobs pitch.

Why do so many people turn their phone over (face down) when using it to tap-to-pay? Is this just a bizarre side effect of skeuomorphism where people think the card is physically in the screen? Was there some bad tech demo that people got thrown off by?

If Dimes Square was shorthand for the downtown post-ironic horseshoe'd to right wing Substack glitterati, I think we should start using Hudson Square as shorthand for the new wave AI accelerationist Palantir chore coat wearing bag chasers

Was setting up ads directly in Meta Business Manager for the first time in a long while yesterday and holy shit the amount of "AI enhancements" they try and force on to you every step of the way is astounding. Started making a lot more sense why there is such a glut of slop ads on Instagram now.

Trans rights are human rights, political funding should not tip the scales of American democracy, and the constitution says what it says. Other than that, I'd simply remind my friends to not post anything they wouldn't want to see quoted on Fox News tonight. (That's what the group chat is for.)

The only take I have on the Ferrari/Jony Ive EV is that they should have never branded it/badged it as Ferrari and used this opportunity to start an EV sub-brand instead. The car looks _ok_ I guess, but it definitely doesn't "look like a Ferrari."

For the first time since 2020 I am flying somewhere for a meeting and flying back in the same day. I’ll be on the ground for less than 8 hours. This feels doubly neolithic considering I was on a video conference with the same people for two hours yesterday.

Before the show the people behind me were trying to teach their friend what mpreg is (but had to start with slash fic first), after the show there is a line of people waiting to take a selfie with a connection conspiracy board of people named in the Epstein files. Well done @garbageday.email.
