Don't miss your chance to read my latest fiction. I'll have to take it down when I sell the imaginary movie rights for big imaginary $$$. I quit my job and sold my clothes this morning. The story is a strong contender for an imaginary literary prize, maybe the Pulitzerbookernobel or whatever.

"The Saturday Roger Became So Hungry" is based on a true story about an imaginary character I made up. It's full of baked goods & drama. Names, places, events & outcomes were changed in order to inflate the author's ego. My thanks to hawkeyemag.com for the support! hawkeyemag.com/stories/smit...

Started working on a new flash fiction today, which for me is pretty rare anymore. Ran the working title through Google to look for potential duplication. Stumped the search engine -- I didn't get a dumbass AI response. No reply whatsoever. I think this bodes well for my story.

In his copious spare time, Rick loves to fiddle with and/or restore antique refrigerators. "Iceboxes," he calls them, and he winks, and I don't understand what he means. But he sure knows how to write about that stuff! Check out his story at @maudlinhouse.bsky.social and we can all learn something.

I’m back with Chicago’s finest, @maudlinhouse.bsky.social today with a new story about a friendly yet slightly sinister kitchen appliance. Give it a read, it’s partly true. BUT WHICH PART, RICK?? Yes indeedy, you betcha…. 👻 🖤🍸 🧀

My credentials as a serious writer are impeccable. Well into adulthood, I spent Saturday mornings squeezing the literary juice from Hanna-Barbera cartoons & crappy horror movies. The result? My story "The Saturday Roger Became So Hungry." It's coming to the wild, awesome hawkeyemag.com in late July!

HAWKEYE

A martini glass for homebrew gin. A shabby tent for meatball surgery and fine literary delicacies. Quite simply, another online magazine.

When writing, I overuse em dashes and overwrought metaphors. Was my work scraped for AI training? Or am I a human who is controlled by AI? My smart watch says no. I swear I did not have sexual relations with that cell phone. Microprocessors don't turn me on, but I love me some big processors.

Sometimes you visit your local dive bar for lunch and the Daily Special is "low expectations topped with disappointment". Today, lemon garbanzo chicken soup done in a Greek style. Delicious. Also had a patty melt that caused mini-strokes between bites, so at least I got enough cholesterol & sat fat.

“Open with a joke and close with a list of all the other lists. The right lie at the right time is always as welcome as earworms.” The mind of Michael Grant Smith. Fascinating, rhythmical, unsettling but in a friendly, amiable sort of way ☺️ Lovely stuff as always, @michaelgrantsmith.bsky.social
