MICHAEL CAINE’s made worse Films but despite coming fresh of the success of ‘Alfie’ & co-starring ANTHONY QUINN & CANDICE BERGEN it bombed at the box office. Still, it did result in a production fling between Caine & Bergen, so it wasn’t a total loss for the boy from Rotherhithe. THE MAGUS (1968)

MICHAEL CAINE’s made worse Films but even PETER SELLERS when asked whether he would make changes in his life if he had the opportunity to do it all over again said, "I would do everything exactly the same except I wouldn't see The Magus." THE MAGUS (1968)

Originally a Chinese military fort, KOWLOON WALLED CITY became an enclave after Hong Kong was leased to Britain in 1898. The City's population increased dramatically following WW2 and by 1987 had 33,000 residents within its 6 1⁄2-acre borders. It was demolished in 1993.

There’s so much I like about this photo of a special ‘Jubilee’ double decker bus in Trafalgar Square in 1977 - but I especially like the Woodpecker, Strongbow & Bulmer ads (how big was Cider back then!), the sandwiched Ford Capri, and the Pomagne ad. 📷 by David Rostance

The screen test for ‘Roman Holiday’ that changed AUDREY HEPBURN’s life & career. Audrey’s time in Arnhem during WW2 was hugely painful & you can see the pain in her eyes when she sits down & talks about this traumatic period in her life.

THE FORTY ELEPHANTS were an all-female gang active in London from 1873 until the 1950s. Noted for their longevity they operated from the Elephant & Castle area, raided West End stores, posed as housemaids to burgle wealthy homes & were notoriously expert at evading capture.
