I'm generally too sensitive for the internet.

I have lost one of my favorite editorial cartoon-type pictures. Help! A group of 5-6ish people walk into a Picasso/cubism show, and then walk out. On the walk in they look like fairly typical 60's style people (e.g. woman in a fur coat & little hat), on the way out they are all Cubist style. 🧵

Someone abandoned a dog at the dog park 😭. Poor little guy! I've heard of this happening before - my guess is that folks figure that dog lovers will come by and help. And so, here I am. Animal control is on the way.

I would very very much like it if it would rain in the next couple of days. My plants are hot and dry, and I haven't had time to set up my elaborate watering system this year. How is tomorrow Monday? I need another weekend day.

Houseplant Overhaul, plant #1: Today I will zhuzh up the Snake Plant. I realized that, although I have a bunch of houseplants, I don't really know how to care for them properly. They're limping along like little champions but they could be much happier if I just do a little more to help 'em out.

#2026books #23: A Memory of Light, by Jordan and Sanderson. The 14th book in the Wheel of Time. I am now ugly crying at work. If anyone asks, I'll tell them. I just finished an amazing series of books and I'm sad it's done. I think most people would understand. I feel sad for those who wouldn't.

Is every commercial AI now? Everyone looks just familiar enough to make me look twice. Faces are lit up like those of lil' Rococo angels. Eyes are a bit too big. Everyone looks a bit manic.

it's a rather partisan crowd at the All-star game, isn't it? How did Shelton get the coaching job?? I heard he was going, I thought he was going to be the 3rd base coach or something. He's not only a rather undistinguished coach, he's new to the league.

Strange sound in the house: the dog Strange sound outside the house: the train yard Strange sound outside the house on summer nights: fireworks Accepting these three truths - sometimes despite plausible evidence of other, more worrisome sound sources - makes it possible for me to sleep at night.

Another project finished: I had a small knit beekeeper quilt that wasn't doing much. It was small because I was sick of knitting hexipuffs. So I took it sort-of apart and affixed it to my IKEA reading chair. Voila, a zhuzhed up chair.

An IKEA cushy chair, the back of which is covered in knit puffy hexagons. It looks super comfortable...and it is!

I mentioned, a few days ago, that I had recently finished some projects. I, perpetual project -non-finisher, finished projects. Amazing! Here's one: an old clock turned into a Now clock.

A wall clock, black scrollwork edges. The numbers have been replaced by the word "Now".

Tuna doesn't care about fireworks one little bit. She was snoozing right before I took this picture, and has since begun chewing on a bone. My old dog, Luce, HATED fireworks. This is a nice change.

A cute dog, unperturbed by fireworks

#2026books #22: A Letter for the King, by Tonke Draft. A young aspiring knight takes a side quest, goes on an adventure. A simple story that has the pacing of a Minnesota farewell (SO much small talk dialogue) but for some reason, I enjoyed it all. Slow but enjoyable.
