State Representative, HD-43. Working hard and getting things done.

I agree with Governor DeWine that Ohio should abolish the death penalty. The evidence shows it does not deter crime, and no justice system is immune from error. We can protect public safety, pursue justice, and hold offenders accountable without the state taking a human life.

No family should fall into financial hardship because someone got sick or injured. Dr. Amy Acton is making medical debt relief for Ohioans a key priority in her affordability plan. That’s the kind of leadership we need right now.

More than 110 lawmakers from 27 states came together for a Day of Solidarity with Minnesota communities. States have both the authority and the obligation to protect civil rights, demand accountability, and act together when our constitutional rights and democratic principles are threatened.

Great to see Toledoans out in numbers for #ICEOutForGood! Americans are demanding accountability for ICE’s killing of Renee Nicole Good. When a government responds to a civilian’s death with lies and vile rhetoric, this stops being about one hothead agent and becomes a test for our democracy.

Toledo ranks 4th in the nation for healthcare costs as a share of income. Healthcare costs are rising faster than inflation and wages aren’t keeping up. We cannot accept a status quo where our families are constantly one medical emergency away from financial ruin.

Whether they’re called “service fees,” “processing fees,” or “convenience charges,” we've all felt the sticker shock at checkout. Predatory junk fees cost U.S. consumers an estimated $90 billion a year. Our Fee Transparency Act would crack down on deceptive pricing in Ohio.

United Steelworkers members are still fighting for a fair contract at Libbey Glass. Proud to be back on the picket line this morning with these men and women - and pleased to be joined by Dr. Amy Acton. Ohio works when leaders stand with workers.

Thanks to all who went to bat for Toledo kids by speaking in support of this bipartisan effort to create a Mud Hens license plate benefiting the team’s youth programs. The bill passed committee unanimously today. Next stop: the House floor!

The Ohio House just passed HB 148 to allow Ohioans to donate part of their tax refund to the Ohio Pet Fund. It’s a simple way to strengthen spay/ neuter programs and support our shelters and humane societies. 🐾 Proud to sponsor this bipartisan bill with Rep. Sharon Ray. (RIP Max, 2009–2024)

Kids shouldn’t be a business model. Too often, child influencers and performers see their work monetized without ever seeing the earnings. That’s why Rep. Lauren McNally and I introduced two bills to change that: the Child Performer Protection Act and the Kid Influencer Protection Act.

The bill unanimously passed committee today and is one step closer to becoming law.
