The UK Government made a commitment in its National Cancer Plan for England to hit cancer wait time targets by the end of this parliament, but it's not on track to achieve this. Urgent action is needed, otherwise people affected by cancer will continue to be let down.

This year’s Foreign Sisters Annual Lunch raised over £300,000 for Cancer Research UK. Since 2007, their annual lunch has raised over £3.4m in support of our work. My thanks to Foreign Sisters, and to everyone who helped make this year’s lunch such a meaningful moment of collective support.

Today marks a turning point for public health in the UK. Royal Assent of the Tobacco and Vapes Bill will mean 13 million children alive today will never legally be sold tobacco products in the UK. Future generations will look back and say this is when we finally broke the cycle of addiction.

A historic moment! Today the Tobacco and Vapes Act has become law and it’s a huge step towards a #SmokefreeUK. This world-leading legislation has now made it illegal in the UK to sell tobacco products to anyone born on or after 1 January 2009.

For decades, smoking has taken a devastating toll on society. With the Tobacco and Vapes Bill set to become law, this marks a turning point where we can set the country on a path to ending the leading cause of cancer in the UK. Read my thoughts: www.express.co.uk/life-style/h...

Another positive step towards ending cancers caused by smoking in the UK. Congratulations to the team that made this happen in Wales. I urge members of the House of Lords to ensure the Tobacco and Vapes Bill becomes law as quickly as possible.

Big news for a #SmokefreeUK! @senedd.wales has voted for the Tobacco & Vapes Bill, which aims to help end cancers caused by smoking and create the first smokefree generation. We now want to see the Bill passed in @houseoflords.parliament.uk and implemented across all four nations.
