Today I was delighted to join the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Smoking and Health reception to congratulate them on their 50th anniversary and to celebrate the Tobacco and Vapes Act becoming law #SmokefreeUK

The UK Government made a commitment in its National Cancer Plan for England to hit cancer wait time targets by the end of this parliament, but it's not on track to achieve this. Urgent action is needed, otherwise people affected by cancer will continue to be let down.

This year’s Foreign Sisters Annual Lunch raised over £300,000 for Cancer Research UK. Since 2007, their annual lunch has raised over £3.4m in support of our work. My thanks to Foreign Sisters, and to everyone who helped make this year’s lunch such a meaningful moment of collective support.

Today marks a turning point for public health in the UK. Royal Assent of the Tobacco and Vapes Bill will mean 13 million children alive today will never legally be sold tobacco products in the UK. Future generations will look back and say this is when we finally broke the cycle of addiction.

Thrilled that we raised over £800,000 at the #EmeraldsAndIvy ball on Saturday so our Cancer Awareness Roadshows can continue to offer inclusive access to free, lifesaving cancer information to the public. Tonight, I'm following the yellow brick road all to way to the #EmeraldsAndIvy ball. The event is in support of @cancerresearchuk.org's Cancer Awareness Roadshow and the Marie Keating Foundation - last year we raised an incredible £950,000 and I know tonight is going to be just as special.

This week we've been Standing Up To Cancer. Since 2012, @cancerresearchuk.org's partnership with @channel4.bsky.social has raised over £113M, funding 73 projects to accelerate life-saving cancer tests and treatments for cancer patients who need them. Tune in tonight for an unmissable night of TV.
