i totally get that people do it when they have the time and energy ... but mowing the lawn at 11:40 during a heat warning seems unwise.

so, random question for a friend (seriously ... it was the funniest conversation i've ever had at the bakery!). is there a way to receive payments online (through paypal or another third party) where the real name of the person receiving the money is not public?
i never have mosquitos in my yard … why are there mosquitos in my yard!?
may you all greet your days with the enthusiasm of a dog who has missed 2 days of walks and needs to catch up on her pee-mail.
the need to add music to every single instagram post. (things i don’t understand.)
people have very strong feelings about the people's choice award. also, random person ... it's great that you're proud about how much you voted, but as per the rules, only one of your votes counted each day ... so, those extra couple of dozen were a waste of your time.
and just like that, i made my decision and booked everything for my 2026 birthday road trip in september … back to beautiful grand manan with a stop in moncton for an interesting looking conference.
if you’re a local politician who uses ai, i’m going to assume you’re fine with giant water and power-sucking data centres in our communities.
do the people who are mad that the new season of ted lasso is going to be about a women’s football team know that the DON’T HAVE TO WATCH IT!?!!!
today is a clean up and decompress day post-buskers … back to routine tomorrow.
26° feels like 36° is just silly … the air is soup.
today was muggy and misty … sometimes heavily misty … but nevertheless the buskers persisted. only one show (the first show on thursday because it was too slippy after the rain that morning) was cancelled for the entire festival … which i think is a record in recent years.
and my last buskers meal for this year is a walking taco from leomay at my quiet spot on foundation wharf.
today, my dad would be 100. he has existed, either physically or in memory, for a full century. it kind of blows my mind.
there are amazing photographers who come to buskers almost every year and i get so excited when they post their images. people tend to do more stories and reels now, so seeing moments caught in a photograph are a joy! grantisagrant from twitter is one of them … not sure he’s on bluesky.
my first sunflower has hit the top of the 5’ fence! i have 7 that are growing … a couple others were victims of an enthusiast doodle who likes to jump into the flower beds.
oh, the satisfaction of timing the airfryer and microwave to ding at the same time!
i learned this morning my neighbours lost their dog … soul, the sweet boy cocoa was obsessed with … suddenly a couple of weeks ago to an autoimmune disease. i was worried that was the case, because i hadn’t seen him or heard them talking to him … but i hoped i was wrong. he was only 2.
it’s my mom’s birthday … she would have been 94 today.
friends. this is the first year in my 14 busker festivals that no one, not a single person, asked me about the fireworks. my saturday evenings used to be spent answering fireworks questions. and i once got asked about them as early as march!
i have escaped the saturday chaos of the waterfront and am home in my jammies, freshly showered and drinking a very large amount of water … only thing missing is my cocoa, but i’ll see her in the morning.
it’s been a minute since i’ve been at buskers on a saturday. it’s a lot.
you guys … remember that jesus dress from shein i posted a few days ago? i just saw the tshirt version on a lady on the waterfront!
y’all know that awful building that used to be the visitor centre by the wave that’s now an eyesore? don’t walk on the wood bits. because your foot might go right through the decking and hurt your body. don’t ask me how i know.
cocoa would be pleased to know that, despite not falling asleep until after 1am, i was wide awake at 5:30 ... she has me trained well for her early morning wanders.
so, i’m staying in the same fucking hotel room i stayed in on christmas eve when roxy was at the emergency vet … and i’m having a cry about it.
maybe don’t deal with your banking issue on speaker phone on a wharf in halifax, sir.
only at buskers will you see a buddhist monk and old amish folks enjoying fire jugglers.
because of @awesomebiota.bsky.social i now call all water vessels “floaty boaty”.
