Feel like I’ve dressed as someone cosplaying as a psychologist today… I didn’t bring a cigar.
Love the autumn but sad that this might be the last bunch of cut dahlias from the garden - I will make an extra effort to enjoy them while report writing (sorry can’t visit this week, I need to look at my flowers 👀)
(1/7) I’m delighted to share an article co-authored with Dr Lucy Browne, published in this month’s Educational and Child Psychology. Our study explored teachers’ views on peer supervision, its role in CPD, and its impact on wellbeing. explore.bps.org.uk/content/bpse... Key insights below:
I spent quite a lot of time with a YP today being redirected towards the question of whether a drinking straw had one or two holes. I was very much ‘team one hole’ before the visit but I’m not really sure now. It was a wonderful insight into his worldview but I’m now having an ontological crisis.
I wrote something - kinda a rambling of various thoughts after an...interesting article in iPaper last week TLDR - We need to extend systems thinking to our own profession. We're too small to be divided. We need diverse voice at media and policy level #edpsychs www.linkedin.com/pulse/thinki...
Thinking holistically needs to extend to our own profession too
So, I said I would come back to this article and post shared by the DECP and therefore I probably should. You can see a paywall free version of the article here.

I’ve been introducing different models of supervision to a group of SENCOs and only armoured with a baggie of different everyday objects, I was pleasantly surprised how rich the reflections were / what meaning was uncovered while using the IMAGO model of supervision. #edpsychs

The latest issue of EPRaP is out and it is an absolute humdinger! Thank you to all of the authors and contributors. Definitely a few papers I’m going to check out over the (it can’t come soon enough) long bank holiday weekend. #edpsychs

Really enjoyed the LGBTQ+ History month panel event @waterstones Piccadilly last week. It was really interesting to hear William Hussey, Cynthia So, and Simon James Green, discuss the themes within their work and the importance of LGBTQ+ representation within YA love stories.
As #LGBtplusHM enters its final week, I wanted to reshare my lit review on Bluesky ‘A Critical Review of the Role of #edpsychs engaging with Young People Who Identify as Transgender in the UK’ which can be found in vol 9(1) of @uel-eprap.bksy.social repository.uel.ac.uk/download/b50... #queersky

If you have a moment, take a look at the most recent issue of Educational Psychology Research and Practice. The 10th volume of the open access periodical focuses on global psychology topics that will certainly be of interest to the #edpsychs and #edusky communities. repository.uel.ac.uk/item/8yvv8
My most rewarding day as an #edpsychs yet. A person-centred assessment that opened up new wonderings/ felt like an intervention followed by a rich picture/situation summary for a secondary school to map provisions for ‘disengaged students’. Lots of new thinking and transformative conversations.
During an observation, “You look like Harry Kane” [mixed feelings]. Then during some pupil voice regulated with some balloon keepy-uppies, “you’re definitely not Harry Kane” [mixed feelings]. Might need to unpack this in supervision….

I haven’t had an eye test for 6 years.. based on my experience of the world my eyesight seemed fine… turns out those pesky positivist optometrist tests say my eyesight is in fact, not fine 🤷♂️. So here I am, round frames and tweed, further leaning into the stereotype. Happy Friday everyone #edpsychs

I adore the gentle, cosy, romantic approach Heartstopper has to growing up. Watching Season 3 I’m truly impressed with its sensitive and accessible approach to relationships, school transitions, mental health and the LGBTQIA+ experience. I wish it existed when I was a teen. Go watch/read!
Absolutely this though ♥️ Should be on every single educationally setting wall in the largest print possible! #Edpsychs #Edusky#Inclusion #PositiveChildhoodExperiences
Another book recommendation, it’s a cosy fantasy about Linus Baker, a gov worker visiting a home for looked-after children. Linus is tasked by ‘extremely upper management’ to assess the children and the home’s ’unconventional approach’. It’s funny, heartwarming and oozes EP values. loved it!
Having just qualified I’m curious to hear from experienced #edpsychs regarding any social changes they’ve noticed regarding toileting skills across their career and any other contributing factors they feel is important to consider that is not discussed in this article. www.tes.com/magazine/tea...
