The Happy Hour ran dry and the £10 pints weren’t attractive so headed to The Blackfriars for their more economical £8 pints instead. Great architecture doesn’t cover this place being absolutely awful.

Solid if unspectacular picks. Chandos is a meet in town before a Christmas do pub but go to The Harp, The Dog Kennel is totally fine but I’d rather go to The Black Prince or The Kings Head. www.timeout.com/london/news/...

I do love leafing through CAMRA’s London Drinker mag over a pint. The font is mental though and surely they’re in cahoots with big optical because the amount of squinting I have to do to read is suspect and says ‘you need an eye test’.

One at the Mikkeller on Hackney Rd out of curiosity. It’s not for me but I like carpet and wondering why Tony is wearing his big coat indoors. £7.20 a pop for their lager.

Speaking to a friend today & recalled a North London character, Kenny Katz, who used to travel the Northern Line from Edgware or Colindale while clad in tracksuit, two Sony Walkman Sports plus a horse hair fly swatter. Kenny would ‘entertain’ passengers with his unique brand of headcasery. Top man.

The George, Tower Bridge Rd. Wow. Classic Truman interwar pub (?). Lovely. Made up to have the chance to stop in.

The Roebuck, Great Dover St. Never been in before and this must be one of London’s most photographed pubs.

The Old Kings Head, Borough. Do love this place. Load of lads from Sheffield walked in and ordered a round, gave it the full ‘OW MUCH! I don’t want te buy t’pub’. A welcome pub classic.

Went to Morley’s for the first time ever last night. Honestly no idea what the fuss is by South Londoners.
