Migrant Voice

@migrantvoice.bsky.social

We are a migrant-led national organisation empowering migrants to speak out, challenge perceptions and change public debate, in the media and to policymakers. Offices in London, Glasgow and Birmingham.

For years, this country has debated the impact of migration & what should be done. But how can you make any decisions without consulting the people it affects the most– migrants? This has been Migrant Voice’s approach for the last 15 years: In their own words: www.theredcard.org/news/15-year...

The asylum appeals system is far from perfect, but putting the lives of those seeking safety in the hands of unqualified individuals is not the answer. The system needs genuine investment, not treating people's lives as if they are a public debate. www.standard.co.uk/news/politic...

In this video, four migrants reflect on the events that unfolded in Belfast recently, including reports of far-right violence, attacks targeting migrants, and the wider impact on communities across the UK.

Migrant Voice was honoured to share a platform with our friends at Show Racism the Red Card, represented by our very own Nazek Ramadan at Unison Conference. Unfortunately, migrants are a target of the populist right, and it’s so crucial to challenge those narratives. Thank you for having us.

We utterly condemn the violence being seen in Belfast and Glasgow. These are not "protests" they are race riots. They are far right fuelled attacks against communities, leaving people in fear. Women and children trapped in their homes by hostile mobs who threaten violence against them.

Public Accounts Committee has warned the asylum system is "on the brink of collapse". That's not the fault of those in it. Years of hostile policies have left the system broken and failing those most in need. People are left in limbo by hostile and inhumane policies which fail to provide protection.

Today the Public Accounts Committee has warned that the asylum system is on the “brink of collapse”. This is not the fault of people stuck in it as they seek safety. This is the outcome of years of hostile, and costly, policies which see private firms making vast profits providing substandard accommodation, an initial decision making process which even the Home Office acknowledges fails to meet its own standards, and political rhetoric which continues to demonise those seeking asylum.
We have a system designed to cause fear and distress. A system designed to harm those in it. We need a better system, a system which doesn’t rely on soundbites for the media, but instead focuses on genuine protection for those most in need of it.

"The decline in people coming to UK shown by immigration stats is not a shock. Migrants are not numbers on a spreadsheet. This drop reflects our lives and the hostility we face and more migrants leaving the country. It shows families ripped apart and lives destroyed."

Today in the Times the brutality of French tactics the UK pays for is shown. By ripping children from mothers they have caused a 3-year-old to cross alone. With the closure of family reunification routes it's now even harder for them to be reunited with their mother. www.thetimes.com/uk/politics/...

Today we kicked off our 2026 London 'Ambassadors programme' with a day of training in Kings Cross. We learned about the 2026 media landscape, exchanged stories and wrote pitches to get our stories published. Looking forward to more workshops with our amazing new cohort of Ambassadors. #MigrantVoices

The extortionate costs of visas, sometimes 10 x the actual processing costs, already leave many impoverished and families ripped apart. The fees are now set to go up again. We need a system which is fair. Support our campaign for fees limited to processing costs & settlement routes capped at 5 years
