No new artwork for now. Working on engine stuff. Trying my best to have no runtime allocations. Here, have some code. #odin #gamedev #programming

Artist, Programmer, Lover of Manga, Python, Odin (and maybe Jai if it ever releases LOL) -- still figuring this thing called life out. Worked on the precision platformer "Anwyl and the Cursed Tower". Released 'Kiki'! Be kind to yourself and others. :)
Over 19,000 games have released on Steam in 2025. Almost half of them have fewer than ten reviews.
Failure is inevitable, so don't fail in vain. Failure is not fatal, but failure to change may be. Failure is knowledge which can be used as the foundations of success. Fail early, fail often, fail forward. And as often as you fail, learn from it - and use it as a stepping stone to something better.
Then again, the grass is always greener on the other side. I dunno. I just want stuff to work well and be reliable. I want to be proud of the work that I do and feel as if I'm becoming a better programmer because of it. Is that too much to ask? LOL #odin #programming
A big reason I started using Odin is because it's fun to write and fun to read. If things get too taxing in terms of mental overhead (with memory management, segfaults, etc.) that may make me just try something else. Godot is still... right there. #odin #programming
I'm about to jump into my "Engine 2.0" so I can have a better and more stable tool for my next project. I really like Odin, but when I get segfaults, it makes me wish I was using Python (or any language in which segfaults are impossible). #odin #programming
The more I code, the more I realize SO MANY things can be solved with a struct, an enum and a bunch of functions. Like... so many things. LOL #programming #odin #raylib
See? With this UI element, it blocks the view of the key. I'll have to change the position of the key in this room. Probably just lower it. #gamedev #thinking #planning #whyamistilladdinghashtags
Hmm.... while laying in bed last night I realized that all my mockups haven't included space for the UI. So, I gotta remedy that. That means I have less space on the screen if the player is going to get different items/abilities and stuff. Hmm. #gamedev #thinking #planning #whyamistilladdinghashtags
@madjackmcmad.bsky.social @tuskat.bsky.social Here is a revised version. I desaturated the plants, but kept the rug the same. Desaturating it made it sink into the background and "read" more like a hole to jump over, which is not the case. It's just decoration. What do you think?
Been thinking about the best way forward with the project after Kiki. I think I'll do the mockup for the first area, build and implement it (which will require that I update my engine and add features). Then just playtest that. I really want this new project to be a step up from the last one.
I was going to ask for help with my game for overall Narrative and Dialogue, but then I saw that the average for something like that is $50 to $80/hr... then I was like, ya know what? I'll write this myself. >_<
Kitchen stuff continues. (which isn't even level 1 but that's what I feel drawn to make, so I'm making it). Yesterday was large appliances. Today was small appliances/pots/pans/etc. Tomorrow... maybe food? (gotta see if there's a good 2D asset pack for food out there). >_<
Looking for a pixel artist for NPC characters. Cute/Interesting design and 10-frame idle animation each. Attached image shows size of characters I need. Send samples and price range if interested! Thanks! #gamedev #pixelart #pixelartist #DigitalArt #PixelDaily
Room 59 mockup compete! Making some good progress here. ^_^ #gamedev #pixelart #platformer #indiedev #mockup
This Grand Foyer is kicking my butt. >_< I'll get there at some point. LOL #gamedev #pixelart #platformer #indiedev #wip
I've been loving doing these breakdowns of what the next project would look like. It looks so good!! #gamedev #pixelart #programming #indiegame
